PRESENT

Whilst there is a lot of DJ history spanning two decades my latest involvement with the club scene kick started again in August 2008 when I started the brand known for its successful events around London and its residency at Inigo; I am of course referring to LIFE.

Things progressed quite quickly and I became a regular on the London scene, playing at Pacha, MOS, The Whitehouse, Inigo, PlanB and a whole host of other venues and events. With consecutive years in Ibiza the progression seems positive.

I'm currently keeping busy concentrating on music production, the occassional AFTERLIFE party and my new show by the same name on Passion FM Live every Tuesday 18:00 - 20:00 GMT. I am still very open to playing out at other events but keen for them to be suitable.

My style has always been an edgy twist of Tech House and Techno which has stayed with me since the early 90's and my production and DJing are generally on the same track. All that said this is just a base from which anything can happen as I'm always looking for that new edge whilst keeping true to my routes.

THE PAST

My introduction to the underground dance scene took place shortly after it began. Its 1986, Saturday night and at 14 I heard Charlie Says by The Prodigy, amongst others on a London pirate station; bam, that’s it, an instant love affair begun.

A few years pass by and enough money is saved for the first set of decks; nothing exciting, an all in one console system designed for nothing but the bin! Just turned 18 and some belt drive decks finally get unveiled and thus the DJing really starts. Seven weeks later and the first opportunity to play out comes about at a Stevenage club; Mark Moore and MC Kinky are headlining.

Whilst they are all enjoying a carry on at the end of the main night Seb steps up to the decks to keep things going with nervous hands shaking. This is the first time on a set of Technic 1210’s and immediately he realises just how different they are to the belt driven decks he has learnt to play on. Although he’s a nervous wreck he carry’s on and all goes reasonably well.

Realising this cant happen again it gets to Monday morning and with no delay I racked up my first debt, but a necessary one if I wanted to carry on in the right direction (in my opinion). Two Technic 1210’s were in the bag and its straight home to set them up. The following Saturday I played the warm up at the very same club and again I was a nervous wreck but all went fine, nothing special in my eyes but it did the job.

Three weeks later I was invited back to cover for the main resident who was playing in New York; this time I was playing 12-2am; the middle set! To make things that little bit more special the headliner; playing the last set, was the LEGENDARY Little Louie Vega.

I took to the later set like a duck to water and smashed it; the stage, tables and even the bar became spaces to dance on. The clubbers and the club loved it so much that right there and then I was asked to be a club resident. After a 6 month spell and then a small period in Milan , Italy , I moved on to Birmingham where the career really took off.

First off I started my own bar night in the centre – remember at this time DJ bars were almost non-existent, now almost every bar has a pair of decks in a corner. This was a good move as Choice FM director of dance music Ian Wallman heard a set. As a result of this chance meeting, within a week I was offered a residency at the legendary Que Club, a venue like no other ever seen since; with a capacity of approx 7,000 and so much character.

During the 4 years I spent regularly playing at the Que Club with some of the most amazing acts and DJs I played at many other venues in Birmingham and elsewhere. Due to the commercial direction House was going in around the area I was less able to play the tech and techno (we know so well today).

For a few years I even started playing DnB to feed my need for a bit of grit and in some respects this was a far busier time. After a truly memorable 6 years of DJing at some amazing events and venues with a vast number of the largest names we have ever known, sadly it all came to an abrupt end for reasons unconnected with the scene.

Some 8 years later I was back on the scene with a Saturday night residency on Shaftesbury Avenue, London in 06/07 and then a 2 year residency at Cherry Jam in Notting Hill till the end of 2008 also came about, which brings us up to the present period listed at the top…
