Sovietpanda is a DJ in Minneapolis who runs the Too Much Love party at First Avenue every Saturday night.
In 2002, Peter Lansky started the blog Sovietpanda from the Chicago suburbs. After moving to Minneapolis to attend school, and a few months spent working and DJing at Radio K, he began DJing as Sovietpanda in 2006 and started the Too Much Love party at First Avenue. With a unique blend of forward-thinking yet referential dance music, TML and Sovietpanda took off, being named 2008's Best Club DJ in Minneapolis by the City Pages less than two years into his DJ career.
Sovietpanda has DJed all over Minneapolis, including at the First Avenue mainroom, VIP room and 7th St. Entry, the Fineline, Kitty Cat Klub, Foundation, the Dinkytowner, house parties, the Belfry Center, the Uptown Bar, Clubhouse Jager, Weisman Art Museum, Barfly, Transmission, Temple, Jetset, Memory Lanes, Nomad, Triple Rock, Sound Gallery, DEFI, Azia's Caterpillar Lounge, Downtime, Myth, Epic, outside the Metrodome, Envy, as well as parties in Chicago, Wisconsin, Denver and more.
He's shared bills with the likes of LCD Soundsystem, !!!, The Juan Maclean, Klaxons, Diplo, Holy Ghost!, The Presets & Cut Copy, Eamon Harkin, Dave Nada, Dark Wave Disco DJs, Life During Wartime DJs, Tapes n' Tapes, the Misshapes, Star Eyes, Bird Peterson, the Glamour, Blake Miller, We Are Wolves, Designer Drugs, Max Pask, My Cousin Roy, James Fucking Friedman, Willy Joy, Dance Robots Dance, Lee Burridge, and other acts and DJs from across Minneapolis and the rest of the country.
