Steve Bug giving a roundup of classic releases for 2010
Steve Bug grew up in Techno and Acid-House's heyday, so he is quite obviously the perfect man for a roundup of classics. In the very early days DJjing in Bremen and Hamburg, he made the logical step into the production game with his first record released in 1993. Six years later it was all about "Loverboy" and the launch of his new label Poker Flat. Countless productions, remixes and one-off studio sessions followed. History. Here is Steve's selection of classics that still matter in 2010:

Q 1.1 "Q 1.1/I" [Basic Channel]
My favorite Basic Channel release ever! To me this is the early sound of Berlin, reminds me of Tresor, Planet and E-Werk. It's timeless and was way beyond it's years and still sounds so much better than most of the new chord House tracks.

Aphex Twin "Analogue Bubblebath" [R&S Records]
Listening to this really reminds me, that alot of artist were way more experimenting with sounds and grooves compared to now. Diversity is what we should be aiming for to keep the electronic music interesting.

LFO vs Fuse "Loop" [Plus 8]
This track is still one of the most powerfull weapons on the dancefloor. Driving 909 beats and
the crme de la crme of Detroit sounds. Definitely one of the strongest Plus 8 releases!

Mr. Fingers "Can You Feel It" [Alleviated]
This is one of those House hymns that will always remind me of the early days of House music.
In the beginning there was jack and jack had a groove and from this groove came the groove of all grooves.

Hercules "7 Ways To Jack" [Dj International]
Hercules telling you how to jack was pricelesss. Unfortunately a lot of dancefloors are lacking that element. Maybe if everyone listened carefully and followed the instructions that would help bring jack back. ;)

Armando "151" [High Fashion Digital]
Talking about acid, this is a must! Simple, but straight into your head, re-working your synapses... and that effect on the rimshot...how can you not want to dance when you hear this?

Liz Torres "What You Make Me Feel" [Dj International]
Next to "I Can't Get Enough", this is another great classic by the so called "queen of house".
It reminds me of my early days at Hamburg's Front club Hamburg.

Major Malfunction "Mysterious Moments" (4-W.D. Motherland Mix) [Djax Records]
What can i say? I don't know how many times i've listened to this and other Major Malfunction tracks.
His tunes always have a great atmosphere. Wish there were still more of these tracks around....

Underground Solution "Luv Dancin'" [Strictly Rhythm]
I could have chosen a number of other tracks from Strictly, but i decided to take this one, because i feel not so many people might know about it.
This is beautiful oldschool Deephouse at it's best!

Bobby Konders aka Dub Poets "Blak And Whit" [International Deejay Gigolo]
It can't get much deeper than this. "Blak And Whit" is an almost 11 minutes ride with Bobby Konders
that really carries you away. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

The Pokerflat boss disagrees with Sooonnight's assertion that house and techno are "stale" right now, but does express a distaste for DJs sticking rigidly to genres and generally not taking risks.
