Biography of Tony S
|Real name / ||Tony Stevenson|
I'm a musician, producer and DJ based in North London. I make and play various kinds of house music. I'm also interested in other stuff.
As a bassist I studied and played jazz, funk and pop music. I've done recording and session work with various bands and played at venues including Ronnie Scott's, the Camden Jazz Cafe, the London Palladium, cities such as Brussels, Rennes and Strasbourg, and festivals such as Rockomotives (France), Nandrin and Dour (both Belgium). It was great fun.
Over the past few years (and many parties) my interest has turned to dance music, and having soaked up tech and deep house sounds in London and Europe, in 2009 I started working with my close friend and actor/DJ/promoter Jimi Mistry. Sharing a passion for house music, underground parties and good times, a natural progression from us DJing at parties and small gigs in North London was to start the now-infamous tabula rasa secret parties alongside friends Wild Music and Monophunk. Parties we've done so far have featured various guest artists such as Rocky (XPRESS2), Alejandro Vivanco, Matt Tolfrey, Miss Jools, Pete Gooding and Maya Jane Coles. As guests at other parties the tabula rasa resident DJs have played alongside Jimpster, Milton Jackson, Andre Loderman, Eddie Richards and many others.
As guests at the legendary MUAK parties at Egg in King's Cross, Jimi and I have played on bills including Pezzner, Fish Go Deep, Nacho Marco, DJ Deep, Ian Pooley, Dj Spen & Karizma and Uner; we've also played together at the Big Chill festival, NYE and Ibiza Calling at Egg, Camden's Bar Vinyl and various other parties in London.
I've played solo at the Camden Roundhouse (where I work), Islington's Anam Bar, the Red Gallery and the Vibe Bar in Shoreditch and have an occasional weekend residency at The Brickhouse on Brick Lane. I've had my music played on Westside FM, Roundhouse Radio, Deep Vibes Radio and House FM (where I have also co-hosted two shows with Digs from DiY) and even on Danish national radio. All of this is also great fun.
My debut release, 'The Omerta EP' came out on Look Ahead Records in June 2011 and was followed up by 'The Emergence EP' on Soul Shift Music in November 2011. The Desos remix of 'Omerta' was tracklisted by Mark Knight for his 'Toolroom Knights' radio show on 13 June.
I've also had remixes released on Southside Shuffle, Something Different Records, 26 Teadrops International, Deso Records, Unrivaled Music and Soul Industries, with releases of further original tracks and remixes planned on Headtunes Recordings, Savoire Faire Musique, DeepWit Uncovered and UM Records, and on Bullet:Dodge Records and Draft with Jesus Pablo.
My focus now is firmly on producing and releasing music, and performing it live ... which is the best fun there is.
