Among the emblematic figures of the minimal techno international scene there is certainly the name of Troy Pierce.
Born and raised not far from Chicago and Detroit, Troy Pierce moved to Berlin where he worked for many years in the M_nus roster until he decided to found, with Magda and Marc Houle, the Items & Things.
To celebrate five years of the RA Podcast we're opening the archives. On the 1st of each month we will make available one of our classic mixes. To kick things off we take it back to the very beginning, with a genre-defining mix from Minus' Troy Pierce.
The Minus man talks to joonbug regarding his collaborative live project, Square One, with Heartthrob.

The Troy Pierce sound is one which has constantly veered from dense, layered and abstract to stripped down, acid infused and pulsing. His sonic palette is one that draws on a wide array of influences and reaches far outside the confines of the studio and into an otherworld entirely. Fusing techno with minimalism, darkness with light and heaviness with rhythm, this American has never been afraid to experiment in the outer regions of his vast musical universe.
