Fine Grains Records, a new label venture from Alexander Horne (Uraki Riddim), have just announced plans for a series of showcase events around Sonar festival in Barcelona this Summer. Starting off with their main showcase at Skweee Gallery, Marula Cafe on the Wednesday and finishing at an all night bunker party on Friday, the events will include a full roster of Fine grains artists and special guests closely associated with the label. New Uraki Riddim mix for French music magazine Tsugi is the first in a series representing the sounds of the Norwegian electronic music scene and coinciding with the Scandinavian equivalent of SXSW, By:Larm festival, where he will perform alongside Moxie and a host of local beats acts as part of The Drop showcase. Unreleased tracks from Russian beatmaker OL, Scandinavian skweee via Beatbully and Rigas Den Andre and forthcoming releases on emergent bass label Tuff Wax are all included in the mix.
Uraki Riddim releases the 'It Came From Uruk' mixtape on the renowned electronic music site Mondayjazz ahead of the finale of his DO It! night in Aberdeen this December. The mix takes a nostalgic trip through many of the acts who have been represented at the DO It! nights, encompassing skweee, hip hop and even some avant garde electro from the likes of Cabaret Voltaire, Mweslee, Daniel Savio, Shackleton, Dorian Concept and Onra.
Oslo/Aberdeen club night DO IT! will end on December 9th with a grande finale at Snafu in Aberdeen. The night will finish as co-founder Alexander Horne's prepares to launch a related record label venture in 2012. More details on the final night and label are forthcoming. 'URAKI RIDDIM', Alexander Horne, is a Scottish DJ and graphic designer born in Aberdeen and based in Oslo, Norway. Founder of Fine Grains Records, and The Drop (2011 - 2012) and DO IT! (2008 - 2011) club concepts in Norway and Scotland, he has been an active purveyor of synthetic funk sounds and audio- visual events. Highlights include; booking Scandinavian 'skweee' label Dødpop and German/Chilean 'beats' act fLako for their respective debut UK shows in Aberdeen, connecting Norwegian skweee acts with their European contemporaries Rustie and Dorian Concept for an event during Øya Festival in Oslo and being featured in Juxtapoz magazine for the combination of live beats, painting, visuals at DO IT! collective events.
