Vyn Digit, a child of the early 70s. At the age of four he discovered his fathers LP collection. And when he got his first portable turntable, in its plastic case, he realised quickly what kind of effect the right music at the right moment has on an audience. His first music experience he remembers to this day... as he placed Fleetwood Macs "Oh Well" on his turntable.

Already in the 70s Vyn's father introduced him to the first, and influential electronic music and musicians, amongst them "Kraftwerk", "Klaus Schulze", "Richard Vimal", "Jean Michelle Jarre", "Tangerine Dream", "Pink Floyd", "Eroc", "Vangelis", "Allen Parsons Project".

In the 80s electro titles like Herbie Hancocks "Rockit" or Kraftwerks "Music Nonstop" found their way into Vyns LP collection. At this time he began playing music at friends parties. Whenever he got a chance, he occupied the turntables and tapedecks. At home he recorded tapes for his friends and school mates in a chaos of radios, tapedecks, record players and adapter cables. It was always his intention to take the listener on a musical journey. Whenever Vyn listened to music and sounds he loved to close his eyes and imagine the soundtrack to the movie in his head. Using his limited equipment, he chopped and mixed sounds, music and audio books to make his own musical collage.

In the mid 80s Vyns musical taste was radically influenced by Iron Maidens LP "The Number of the Beast". Bruce Dickinsons fantasic lyrics and the phenomenal guitar duo Dave Murray & Adrian Smith blew away everything he had heard before and left a deep impression in Vyns musical memory until this day. As a result Vyn founded the five piece band "Small Tales", with himself on bass guitar and backing vocals. The "Tales" produced just two releases, "Anyway" & "History". The two other permanent members, Markus Hendricks (vocals, guitar, songwriting) and Olaf Merkert (lead guitar) had a significant influence on the bands musical style. During the three year history of "Small Tales" various band members came and went, and the group was often joined by guest musicians. During this period Vyn also worked on other projects outside of the group, with various combos and musicians.

During the 80s Vyn was influenced by, amongst others, "The Cure", "Pixies", "Pearl Jam", "Soundgarden", "Jimi Hendricks", "The Doors", "Tom Waits", "U2", "Seal" and "Peter Gabriel".

At the beginning of the 90s Vyns brother, who lived in Nuremberg, brought him in contact with the Break Beat scene, which had crossed the Channel from the UK and was now a big thing on the continent. This experience would change Vyn's life significantly...

Back in Cologne Vyn began to free his mind from the restricted musical perception he had produced through listening to rock music. He searched for new directions and means of expression. The band was unable to move in the same, new direction, and eventually split.

Fascinated by titles like The Prodigys "Outer Space" Vyn stumbled into the "Warehouse" club in Cologne, where he changed his mind another time. Vyn became addicted to Techno, mainly because of two releases by Sven Väth, "Accident in Paradise" & "Harlequin, Robot & Ballet Dancer" which Väth produced with Ralf Hildenbeutel. These two concept albums he still calls "Best of Techno".

For Vyn, the 90s was THE Techno decade: Sven Väth (with Ralf Hildenbeutel), Laurent Garnier, Air Liquid, Aphex Twin, Chemical Brothers, The Future Sound Of London, Der 3. Raum, The Prodigy, Orbital and Underworld...but to name a few...all had a profound influence on him.

At the beginning of the 21st century Vyn discovered his love for Open Air Parties, with an appropriate background sound. His style of music was influenced by Goa as well as ethnoligic induced sound, natural sounds and percussion.

Vyn has turned the mixing of natural sounds, voices and melodic sound carpets with beats and butt kicking bass lines into his credo. His goal until now is to create dynamic sets with soul and story line, fantastic and coloured jouneys travelling through a wide range of emotions.

Vyn Digit, ein Kind der frühen Siebziger, beschäftigte sich schon in jungen Jahren mit der Plattensammlung seines Vaters.

Als er mit 4 Jahren einen kleinen tragbaren, in ein Hard Case eingelassenen, Single Plattenspieler zur Verfügung gestellt bekam, merkte er schnell, welche Wirkung die Auswahl der richtigen Musik im richtigen Moment auf die Zuhörer hatte. Die erste Scheibe die er auf den Plattenteller legte, war "Oh Well" von "Fleetwood Mac".

Durch seinen Vater wurde Vyn in den Siebzigern schon an wegweisende elektronische Musik und Musiker, wie etwa "Kraftwerk", "Klaus Schulze", "Richard Vimal", "Jean Michelle Jarre", "Tangerine Dream", "Pink Floyd", "Eroc", "Vangelis", "Allen Parsons Project", heran geführt.

Auch in den Achzigern wanderten immer wieder Elektrotitel, wie "Rockit" von "Herbie Hancock" oder "Music Nonstop" von "Kraftwerk" durch Vyns Plattensammlung.

Zu dieser Zeit begann Vyn mit der Musikgestaltung auf Partys im Freundeskreis. Wann immer sich die Gelegenheit bot, schob er sich vor die Plattenteller oder an die Tapedecks. Zuhause schnitte er Musik auf Tapes in einem Wirrwarr von Radios, Plattenspielern, Tapedecks und Adapterkabeln für seine Mitschüler zusammen. Sein Ziel war dabei immer schon, dem Zuhörer eine musikalische Geschichte zu erzählen. Vyn liebte es, die Augen zu schließen und den Film zur Musik in seinem Inneren abzuspulen. Folglich vermischte er Musik mit Hörspielen und Geräuschen und im Rahmen der begrenzten Möglichkeiten die das vorhandene Equipment hergab, stückelte und verzerrte er die akustischen Grundlagen zu seiner akustischen Collage.

Mitte der Achziger wurde Vyns Musikgeschmack jäh durch die LP "The Number of the Beast" der Band "Iron Maiden" durchkreuzt, deren phantasiegeschwängerte Texte und überragendes Gitarrenduo "Dave Murray" / "Adrian Smith" eine bis heute tief sitzende Kerbe in Vyns musikalisches Leben schnitten. Im folgenden gründete Vyn als Bassist und Backgroundsänger Mitte der Achziger die 5-köpfige Rockband "Small Tales" von der es nur zwei selbst produzierte Releases gab, "Anyway" und "History". Zur Stammbesetzung gehörten Markus Hendricks (Vocals, Guitarre) und Olaf Merkert (Guitarre), die beide maßgeblich an dem Musikstil und der Entstehung der Stücke beteiligt waren. In der 3-jährigen Geschichte der "Small Tales" arbeitete Vyn mit einigen Gastmusikern und parallel auch mit anderen Combos zusammen.

Zur musikalischen Prägung während der Achziger zählten damals Bands wie "The Cure", "Pixies", "Pearl Jam", "Soundgarden", "Jimi Hendricks", "The Doors", "Tom Waits", "U2", "Seal" und "Peter Gabriel".

Anfang der Neunziger kam Vyn durch seinen damals in Nürnberg lebenden Bruder in Kontakt mit der Break Beat Szene, die aus den vereinigten Königreichen ans Festland schwappte. Das Erlebnis sollte Vyns Leben völlig verändern...

Wieder zurück in Köln begann er mehr und mehr sich von seiner eingeschränkten, auf Rockmusik eingependelten, Sichtweise zu befreien und suchte nach neuen Betätigungsfeldern. Die Band litt unter dem Sinneswandel und löste sich letzten Endes auf.

Fasziniert von Titeln wie "Outer Space" von "The Prodigy" stolperte Vyn in den Neunzigern in die kölner Diskothek "Warehouse". Dort wandelte sich seine Vorliebe abermals. Zwei LPs trafen Vyn in den Neuzigern, wie keine anderen zuvor: "An Accident in Paradise" und "Harlequin, Robot & Ballet Dancer" von Sven Väth. Zwei LPs aus der Schmiede von Väth und Hildenbeutel, die Vyn heute noch als "Best of Techno" bezeichnet.

Musikalisch ließ Vyn sich in den Neunzigern durch Sven Väth (mit Ralf Hildenbeutel), Laurent Garnier, Air Liquid, Aphex Twin, Chemical Brothers, The Future Sound Of London, Der 3. Raum, The Prodigy, Orbital und Underworld prägen.

In den Jahren ab 2000 entdeckte Vyn seine Liebe für Open Air Partys mit entsprechender Soundkulisse. Dabei fiel seine Musikauswahl sowohl auf Goa als auch auf etnologisch induzierten Sound mit Naturgeräuschen und Percussion.

Die Vermischung von natürlichen Geräuschen, Stimmen und melodischen Soundteppichen mit groovenden Beats und buttkickenden Bässen hat sich Vyn auf die Fahne geschrieben. Sein höchstes Ziel ist dabei bis heute, Sets mit Seele und Dynamik zu kreieren, die einem roten Faden folgen. Sets, die eine phantasievolle und bunte Geschichte durch alle Gefühlsebenen erzählen.
