The Beach Party, LIC is back for its fourth year at Water Taxi Beach in Long Island City. Some of the biggest names in dance music are performing this year, but the party still maintains a casual spirit and remains a great vibe. Big or small, there’s nothing like sipping a beer, having a hamburger and checking out the amazing view of the skyline in between dancing to great music.
Tonight's guest, DENNIS FERRER, has a career that brings him respect from two different schools. The old house heads love him for his late 90s vocal tracks and his work with Kerri Chandler, and then there’s a new school that devotedly follows his moves on the Objektivity imprint, one that, in its short existence, has launched names like The Martinez Brothers and Karizma. Dennis’ set will be the perfect closer of the year—a little taste of the past present and future all rolled up into one.
Residents JUSTIN CARTER and EAMON HARKIN are the gents behind New Release, an entity that publishes weekly, editorial events listings about things happening in New York and produces music events around the city. They've DJed alongside everyone from Larry Heard and Moodymann to DJ Premier and Afrika Bambaataa, and their sets range from disco to house and everything in between.
DJ PROBUS is the head of Nublu Records, the downtown institution that has launched the careers of Forro in the Dark, Brazilian Girls and Kudu, among others. He is a resident at Nublu's club on Avenue C in Manhattan, and he’s called The Beach Party his summertime Saturday home for the past four years.
