Line-up / Kode9. Hosted by Lorna Clarkson.
The next edition of the Red Bull Music Academy will touch down in one of the world’s most sprawling musical metropolises: London. From February 7 to March 12, 2010, some of the most original and creative minds in music will come together to share ideas, work on tunes, and perform in the best vibe-filled venues around town.
Find out how what it takes to get you to London in 2010 on the Academy’s dime. Get a taste for the Academy by heading to the free Info Session at Hermanns on Friday 26 June 2009, hosted by Lorna Clarkson and electronic dub style king Kode 9. Info Sessions offer an insight into the workings of the Academy with in-depth, yet laidback chats on the infamous Academy couch.
Philosopher, producer, artist, DJ, mentor, label boss - there's not much that the notorious Kode 9 hasn't done for electronic dub styles. His genre-stepping Hyperdub label has shaped many a career, most notable for 'discovering' Mercury Music Prize winner, "Burial", and drawing some of the biggest names in dubstep such as "Joker", "Zomby" and "The Bug". His own Kode 9 productions are just as uncompromising, known for delving into the deepest, heaviest sounds found at the edges of what's expected. With an ability to wax lyrical about bass frequencies in a lecture room just as easily as he can unleash it on the crowd, a session with Kode 9 is quite frankly, not to be missed.
