In the run-up to the AIRBOUND festival in July, MONDO DISCO will be hosting the LONDON AIRBOUND PRE-PARTY @ The Horse & Groom, Shoreditch. Playing alongside MONDO residents Steve Lee & Dave Jay will be special guests SIMON MILLS (BENT) and over here from Dublin especially for the event, AIRBOUND's own JIMMY BEE (DOWNTOWNSOUNDS). This is your chance to hook up with your fellow travelers for a night of classics, unclassics, oddities, obscurities and out-n-out stompers. And entry will be FREE b4 10 and only £3 between 10pm-4am!
For the uninitiated, AIRBOUND is an Irish-run festival taking place in the picturesque seaside resort of Petrcane, near Zadar, Croatia over the course of the August Bank Holiday weekend. The lineup will have a distinctly Irish feel, with a few international guests thrown in for good measure (including Nathan Fake, Daniel Wang, Alexander Robotnik and many others).

MONDO DISCO is a monthly event at the H&G, set up by DAVE JAY & STEVE LEE to highlight the many great DJ's and music heads that frequent the MONDO DISCO music site alongside some surprising headliners out to further the cause, providing amazing nights of electronic experiments and cosmic oddities. Previous guests have included Ray Mang (Mangled, DFA), Kelvin Andrews (Soul Mekanik), Graeme Fisher (Space / Bugged Out), Rev Milo Speedwagon (Mish Mash) and The Off-Key Hat (Dissident).

SIMON MILLS and partner Nail Tolliday formed BENT in Nottingham in 1997 after becoming disillusioned with the state of dance music at the time. Tolliday had previously been part of a famous Midlands-based sound system, DIY. Their ethereal, ambient, sample-heavy sound has been likened to Air, Moby and even Badly Drawn Boy. Like many dance music producers, they take pride in recontextualising somewhat overlooked material. MONDO DISCO is thrilled to have Simon travel down and dig out some typically eclectic tunes for AIRBOUND’s party at the H&G.

JIMMY B started out his career as a promoter back in 2001 when he and friends ran a series of parties called DownTownSounds, in different venues around Dublin. Over the next seven years Jimmy went on to run and DJ at one of the most highly acclaimed club nights in Dublin, constantly introducing fresh new DJs and acts from the underground music scene the world over. The summer of 2008 proved to be busy one for the Jimmy and the crew, as they were also invited by their close friends, the Unabombers, to play at the Electric Elephant festival in Croatia last year.
This is the site where Jimmy and his buddies at Nightflight and Bodytonic Music are hosting a weekend festival, AIRBOUND, this summer. They will host their very own boat party with the boys at the controls – of the music not the boat thankfully – for four hours of bliss on the Adriatic Sea. Please do join us.
