On July 8th, come Fade to Grey with Kiss & Tell. Mark Verbos and his good friend Jon Autry will be spinning italo, industrial, classic dance, pre-techno, post punk, new wave and synth pop. Kiss & Tell resident Bethany Benzur will finish the night off with some rare disco gems and classic hits.
You are invited to wear white and all shades of grey, as we sip milky white russians.
I met Mark Verbos at the Bunker 303 party on March 3, 2006. Mark makes incredible acid tracks on all vintage analog synthesizers but he is also a producer and engineer. Verbos is Tommie Sunshine's right hand man in the studio, for whom he has remixed many of the guilty pleasure tracks we have frequently played at Kiss & Tell, such as Fischerspooner, Sissor Sisters, The Faint, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Gang of Four, Peaches, and The Gossip. Mark has also produced countless records of his own music and remixed Tim Xavier, Ellen Allien, Ascii Disco, and My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, just to name a few.
Kiss & Tell is a girly after work cocktail party created by Seze and co-hosted by Deanna. Each month new guest DJs and performers are invited to perform. The party has started a tradition of hosting well known techno DJs eager to play non-techno sets, filled with the all the hits that inspired their love of music.
It all started three years ago as a place for Seze's coven of gothypants ladyfriends to get together to knit, have a few drinks, and, well... Kiss & Tell! It has evolved into a party for hardcore music nerds who are bored with the usual genre-tunnel-vision that dominates DJ nights in New York.
The party attracts a laid back crowd of techno hipsters, witchy ladies, and creative professionals who want to have a few drinks and meet like minded folks. Whoever tells the hostess the sauciest kiss and tell secret of the night wins a fabulous prize.
