"We promise you a different dance experience than the one you are use to."
Roppongi is dead and we are the alternative. We have a bigger dance space for salsa and the people are very real and friendly. Staff and customers both.
We are back yet again with our fourth and final event in Shinjuku "Japan Salsa: Roots of Salsa Vol. 2" adding closure to just one part of Japan Salsa's interesting history. Starting in August we will move to our brand new venue "eYaway" in Shibuya next to Tower Records! In this event we will explore and play music from salsa's earliest beginnings. We will have a fine musical selection chosen by our resident DJ Antomattei.
El Nuyorican DJ Antomattei
Latin music runs deep in his family roots. He is the nephew of Agustin Antomattei, salsa trumpeter who performed with greats such as Eddie Palmieri, Bobby Valentin, Cano Estremera, Jose Alberto, Pellin Rodríguez, and the 1977 Puerto Rico All Stars. He is also a nephew of Víctor Edwin "Cano" Rodriguez, salsa trumpter for world famous El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico. His grandfather's brother Cándido Antomattei, was one of two main vocalist in Arsenio Rodríguez's conjunto, a band that was part of the roots in the establishment of the latin genres mambo and salsa. Lastly he has yet another family member, his grandfather's cousin, trumpeter Agustin Caraballoso who also performed in Arsenio's conjunto with Cándido.
