Inigo Friday’s have been running since the bar first opened its doors in Autumn 2000 and have become a firm feature on any house music loving claphamites weekend routine and it’s not hard to see why. Featuring a selection of the hottest local DJs mixed with some of the biggest names in dance music Inigo Fridays are the first port of call for a guaranteed great night out and Feb 24th is no exception as they welcome ‘Godfather of house’ himself Marshall Jefferson
There are a handful of men who have the title of "Godfather" of House. While many have legitimate claims to the title, Marshall stands out from the crowd as being the one that defined House music, and indeed dance music, as we know it today. In 1986 he played piano on a House record for the first time ever, that record was the platinum house music anthem ‘Move Your Body’ and today you rarely hear a house record without piano, in his time he has launched the careers of artists and DJs including Kym Mazelle, Roy Davis Jnr, Felix Da Housecat, Lil Louis, Frankie knuckles, the list goes on… Marshall really is one of the most innovative people in the scene.
Inigo Bar has become legendary in Clapham for it’s simple yet very effective policy of good tunes, great parties and a relaxed atmosphere that has given Inigo a great reputation as an oasis in the urban desert.
