Warm with Melon, Jacques Renault & Tensnake photo gallery
Warm return for the eleventh installment of their Plastic People residency on Friday November 20th. This month we welcome three of our favourite artists of 2009 all under one roof - Melon, Tensnake and Jacques Renault!
Firstly we welcome Amsterdams' very own Melon for his warm debut. In his own right he has shaped the music scene in Amsterdam over the years and this even included handing Ricardo Villalobos his Dutch debut. After various parties he finally settled with Ratio?. Melon finally found his home for Ratio ? at the critically acclaimed Club 11. Having been replaced by Trouw earlier this year, Melon is still very much bringing the best house and techno DJ's to Amsterdam on a monthly basis. Beyond this he has also turned to the production side with releases for Platzhirsch Schallplatten, Bangbang! and his own Ratio? Music imprint, in addition to an appearance on last year's edition of Innervisions' Secret Weapons series.
Next up we welcome another warm debutee - Hamburgs' very own Tensnake AKA Marco Niemerski who's contemporary twist on dance music is as fun as it is unique. Behind the Tensnake moniker he has eschewed his Fatherland's taste for the ice-cold industrial in favour of a heart-warming sound that purveys melodic style and rhythmic substance in equal measure. Niemerski's ability to turn out instant classics has made him something of an industry darling, with critical acclaim and vocal support from DJ's and producers all over the world and being lavished on his work in abundance. As a result, he has become one of the scene’s most sought-after remixers, causing artists of note such as Foals, Junior Boys, The Faint and Sally Shapiro to trip over themselves to secure his handiwork on their own material - the latter going so far as to invite him to guest-produce a track on her latest album. Tonight Tensnake plays a very rare live set!
We also welcome back DFA's very own Jacques Renault, one half of Runaway and a solo artist in his own right Jacques has been touring non-stop in 2009 hitting Japan, Australia, Indonesia and Europe! With Runaway remixes for Roland Appel, Mugwump and LCD Soundystem being a permanent fixture in DJ's bag all year as well as his own remixes for Brooklyn's very own Chairlift and Australian outfit 'The Canyons', 2009 has definitely been a great year for Mr Renault!
Definitely one session not to be missed!
