Coming to Leeds this September, the team behind solid northern promotion Bitch will be politely educating the student masses with Leeds’ newest student night, De Puta Madre, as it takes up its weekly slot every Tuesday at Gatecrasher. Adopting the sounds and styles of the Rio Carnival and hosting some incredible live entertainment from fire breathers to stilt walkers, DPM is set to become Leeds’ biggest weekly party as the carnival atmosphere takes over one of Leeds’ most popular student venues. With a split music policy across the clubs’ two floors, DPM will provide something for everyone as the main room romps through the biggest carnival and funky house anthems around, showcasing some of the industries biggest names, while downstairs, Bed will host something a little more than your standard R&B chart tunes.
Kicking things off in fresher’s week are Ratpack on September 22nd. In amongst their old school anthems, crunchy breakbeats and house mash-ups, expect some new school tracks like you’ve never heard them before - there’ll be no resisting your urge to shift shapes to their tunes on a bouncing dancefloor. Superstar DJ Alex Kidd spins at the second session on September 29th, so think hands in the air, pumping house and big breakdowns mixed with some high energy anthems!
October 6th will see the first of the Bitch Fashion Shows, showcasing some of the countries hottest upcoming models as they strut their stuff to some killer tunes, kitted out in some outfits that’ll make your toes tingle. On the 13th October, Virgin Records’ bad boy B-Naughty takes to the stage with his hip-hop/house mash-up and, on the 20th October it’s H2, a duo who have consistently rocked the Bitch parties in Manchester and Ibiza with their insane house and tech sets, leaving party goers screaming for more every time. Gavin Lampitt – who’ll fuse piano lead house with funky vocal - is the final October guest on the 27th as he headlines in the main room, while Cockney duo Hyde & Seek continue their residency in Bed downstairs, where they will be at every instalment of this weekly party.
Sound tracking this credible alternative to the booze soaked commercialisms of elsewhere, are the DPM residents, Luke Pompey and Dillan Joseph, both set to stamp their authority on the Leeds’ student scene! Not afraid to laugh, dance and be merry, Du Putra Madre gets you away from the cheesy mainstream without taking itself too seriously, and is as good a reason as any not to turn in to Uni come Wednesday.
