2562 / A MADE UP SOUND ((Tectonic / Subsolo, NL)
A rare, unmissable UK appearance from 2562, whose stunning new album Unbalance - the follow-up to one of dubstep's best LPs, Aerial - unites the swinging techno of Shed and Martyn (not to mention his A Made Up Sound alter-ego) with UK funky-indebted percussion and the sort of emotive and phsycial weight associated with dubstep greats like Pinch and Shackleton.
CLARO INTELECTO (Modern Love)
Claro Intelecto is the alter ego of Manchester's Mark Stewart, one of the key artists attached to the much-acclaimed Modern Love label. He's renowned around the world for his hypnotic, bass-heavy live sets, which combine the emotional impact of Detroit techno and deep house with the rolling Berlin warehouse vibe of Basic Channel, all shot through with a decidedly British, bleepy rave aesthetic. Cutting edge techno doesn't get any better.
JACKMASTER (Numbers, Dress 2 Sweat, Wireblock)
The man behind two of the most influencial dance labels of recent years - Wireblock and Dress 2 Sweat - not to mention a key member of Glasgow's celebrated Numbers collective, Jackmaster is one of Britain's premier DJs, as well-versed in Baltimore and Juke as he is techno, house and garage. His sets bring together all of the above, with exclusive house jams and club bangers from the UK's best producers and beyond.
A celebration of the spontaneous back-to-back (b2b) format, a unique feature of London's underground music scene. DJs pair up and play joint sets, taking turns to drop a several tracks each, reacting to one another's selections and building the vibe together.
UNTOLD b2b SHORTSTUFF (Hemlock / Planet Mu / Hessle Audio / Blunted Robots)
Hemlock label boss Untold has been crafting deep, inventive dubstep sounds for some time, but this year he rose to infamy with his grimey anti-anthem "Anaconda". Beloved by everyone from Night Slugs to Crookers, the track took the raw essence of grime and rebuilt it with an altogether alien sound palette.
His love for grimey bass weight and bizarre and inventive sonics is shared by Shortstuff, who runs the much-celebrated Blunted Robots label with best mate Brackles.
Together the two will showcase the very cutting edge of garage music.
BOK BOK b2b L-VIS 1990 (Night Slugs / Dress 2 Sweat / Mad Decent)
Following a slew of anthemic remixes and the recent critically-acclaimed EP on the Dress 2 Sweat label, the Night Slugs residents are unstoppable right now. Their sound uses house and garage as a springboard, launching into new realms of tribal drums, retrofuturist synths and heavy, heavy bass.
Bok Bok and L-Vis are no strangers to collaboration, having taken their b2b set on tour across the UK and Europe. They will be dropping plenty of exclusive material by themselves as well as previewing tracks from the upcoming Night Slugs label.
SCRATCHA DVA b2b BRAIDEN (Fantastic Four / Rinse FM)
Scratcha DVA is a certified vet of the grime game. His tracks possess that extra-terrestrial essence that make the genre so exciting, while his Grimey Breakfast show on Rinse FM is a firm favourite of urban London. Recently Scratcha has made power-moves into the world of UK House, 'DVA' becoming synonymous with a style of deep, percussive yet dancefloor-banging mutant funky.
Braiden, also repping Rinse, is celebrated for blowing up dubstep's limitations with his inventive selection and super-tight, technical mixing. Spearheading the current wave of London's what-do-you-call-it experimentation, his sets comfortably splice house, techno, garage and dubstep.
JOY ORBISON ( Hotflush / Doldrums)
Joy Orbison is the whimsically named wunderkind who blew the world away this summer with his celestial debut single "Hyph Mngo". His sound is driven by huge, raw, ultra-saturated and emotional synth lines and scattered with the ghosts of disembodied rave divas; a sort of bittersweet space-age garage that finds its home somewhere between Theo Parish and Groove Chronicles.
TOM LEA & ANT HILL (Fact Magazine)
Armed with everything from 2 Bad Mice to '2 Bad', FACT's Tom Lea and Ant Hill are packing exclusives galore from both days gone by and the current international post-grime, post-garage, post-dubstep scene, and drop them with authority.
