CITY FLY: London

After our last cracking night with Motor City Drum Ensemble & Kris Wadsworth in Leicester we now turn our attention to the launch of City Fly at one of London's finest underground nightclub's 54 in uber-cool Shoreditch.

Not only that we have drafted in yet another in demand German by the name of Sebastian ‘Basti’ Doering aka Lovebirds & one half of Knee Deep for an exclusive UK gig.
Old City Fly favorites & Winding Road Records label buddies to Lovebirds, Rhythm Plate will also be swinging by to drop some of their choice deep house cuts for what is sure to be a massive launch in the smoke!

The Line Up -

LOVEBIRDS (OM / FREERANGE / BUZZIN FLY/ WINDING ROAD)
www.myspace.com/lovebirdmusic

Although the Lovebirds name has burst onto the scene relatively recently, Basti is no beginner in the production & DJ game. Basti formed Knee Deep, together with old friend Toddie Freese in 1998. Knee Deep became a household name in the dance scene, leading to international DJ gigs and mountains of remix work. As Knee Deep, Basti has remixed Jamiroquai 3 times, as well as Bob Sinclair, David Morales, Brandy, and many others, even winning the prestigious “best remixer” category in the 2002 German Dance Awards in the process (beating Timo Maas along the way).

A few years on, Basti had achieved all he wanted to with Knee Deep, and was ready to move into more deeper, melancholy musical avenues. And so Lovebirds was born, which is now his main project. His production experience means that he is able to finish well-rounded tracks off in a matter of days, constantly building a repertoire of classy dancefloor and mellow sounds all destined to wow the world.

The process is well on its way already. The cream of the dance world has its eyes on Lovebirds. Tom Middleton is a big fan. Jimpster has signed up some tracks for a first EP on Freerange. Ben Watt is in regular contact and has signed a track for one of his recent compilations. Basti is involved in fruitful collaborations with Holly Backler, Vincenzo, and other artists. As if all this wasn’t enough, Basti is gathering a collection of songs for release on his and Vincenzo’s new label Teardrop Records, which is destined to become an essential new addition to the house library.

RHYTHM PLATE (LOST MY DOG / WINDING ROAD / DIY)
www.myspace.com/rhythmplate

Rhythm Plate consists of Matt Rhythm and Ant Plate who hail from the beautifully backward peak district town of Matlock. They first met at school where it quickly became apparent that they had the same make of orthopaedic shoe, meaning they quite literally got off on the right foot. This combined with their mutual love of shoplifting, warm real ale and bad puns meant that they were soon finalising a plan for musical stardom.

Their reputation as musical visionaries soon began to spread due to their infamous 'Derbyshire cubs and brownies DJ tour' which culminated in an all-dayer at Starkholmes village hall. This fact alone would have made the front page of the Matlock Miracle Newspaper was it not for one young raver drinking too much kia-ora and having to be stomach pumped. Early attempts at pop stardom were hampered by their crippling tourettes syndrome; however an intensive course of hypnotherapy soon sorted this problem out. The only problem is that now whenever they hear a certain todd terry hi-hat pattern they have a full on relapse.

After conquering the bourgeoning pub scene in Matlock these boompty bumpkins decided to think a bit bigger - releasing on such heavyweights as mantis, winding road, DiY, lost my dog, bluem, flat & round and procreation. As well as this they have also remixed/ruined tunes by respected artists such as atjazz, inland knights, hanna, BRS, brooks and pete dafeet.

Support comes from residents J Shez, Jonna, Ash Stevenson and Jay L
