East Village & Birdsong Music presents... Greg Wilson
Mancunian Greg Wilson is undoubtedly an unsung hero of UK dance music. Via residencies at Wigan Pier, Manchester's Legend, then the Hacienda, Greg Wilson helped introduce electronic dance music to the UK. An almighty come back from retirement has seen Greg storm the UK and beyond with festival gigs, mixtapes, re-edits and some simply sublime DJ sets playing with CDs, laptop, vinyl and Reel 2 Reel tapes. As well as a slew of great releases including the ‘Credit to the Edit Part Two’ anthology. Don't sleep on a chance to catch him in the capital. In a year that has seen his Love Fever parties go from strength to strength, tonight will see Andy Bird doing what he does best and laying down some straight up party music as he and Stuart Patterson have major fun warming up for Greg.
Joining us on the night to host the upstairs deco lounge is as treble tag DJ team First up, Sean Brosnan has recently released the second volume of the esteemed compilation series Future Disco, a collection that was recently described by IDJ as ‘a great selection that is flawlessy mixed and expertly paced’. As well as the album Sean also runs the label Needwant Recordings which includes releases from the likes of The Revenge, Runaway, Ray Mang as well as Sean himself. Also upstairs is Dom Chung, international globe trotter and DJ that continues to play all over London and the globe, from Chicabu Shake in Liverpool to being behind the secret East London parties, Hellfire, which have taken over all sorts of weird and wonderful spaces and places for lock out parties. Finally David James is the man responsible for the coveted Jisco label and new incarnation Under The Shade. Together you should expect lashing of disco and a good helping of slo-mo house.
