1996-2009: 13 years of Drama, decadence and debauchery
Join us as we celebrate 13 years of a distinctly Detroit tradition!
In 1996, Detroit’s rave scene was in full effect. That year, an optimistic and ambitious party kid named Adriel launched what would become one of Detroit’s most celebrated and enduring events. The first Family took place at Tom Philip’s Post in Detroit and featured Derek Plaslaiko, Adam Haupt, Rob Hood and Paperclip People.
The next year, Family found a weekly home at the legendary niteclub, Motor Lounge. Resident DJs Jeremy Christian, Jason Kendig (Echo), Derek Plaslaiko and Brian Gillespie set a new standard in delivering dance music. Additonaly, extended family members Carlos Souffront, Lauren Flax, Ronin, Dillema, Justin Kruse and a “who’s who” of the world’s best electronic music talent created the soundtrack to this special and unforgettable event series that transformed Detroit nightlife forever.
The Family legacy also includes DJs Matthew Boynton, Patrick Russell and Jay Langa.
