Theology, the people who have brought huge acts such as Pendulum, DJ Yoda and Chase & Status to Jersey most recently, present a huge musical extravaganza this new year’s eve.
Spanning four venues (Liquid, Envy, The Bar and Chicago Rock) and kindly sponsored by Massimo Clothing, Brothers Cider, Smirnoff Vodka & Mercier Champagne, a range of musical styles will be on offer, and tickets are limited to 2000.
LIQUID, supported by Smirnoff vodka, is headlined by one the world’s biggest breakbeat acts, The Freestylers. Having performed in some of the world’s biggest clubs and festivals, the energetic duo also boasts the accolade of being the first electronic act ever to perform live on Top of the Pops. They are joined on the bill by London-based duo Atomic Hooligan. After storming the dance arena at 2008’s Jersey Live festival, they return with their explosively eclectic set that spans break beat, hip-hop, techno and drum n’ bass. As Joining them, as well as local support DJs (including Schema and Cut & Paste), are another breakbeat two-piece from the Big Smoke: Ctr-Z, with over 40 releases to date and the winners of 2005’s Breakspoll Awards for Best Breakthrough Act and Best Breakthrough Producer.
Meanwhile, ENVY sees a special Reminisce V’s Philosophy of House battle when DJs will be spinning some of the best dance classics from the past 20 years, while a selection of DJs including Terminal State and Fuzzbox will get the party underway on the LIQUID BALCONY.
THE BAR, supported by Mercier Champagne, features two floors of action, with an outdoor marquee with OFF THE RECORD hosting prog, house and techno DJs (including Hustle’s Suze Rosser and White Label’s Marcus Gregory), and the downstairs venue with a more laid-back offering of soul, funk and RNB from The Dapper Crew and Bigga Sound System DJs.
Completing a line up comprised of over 30 acts is the live bill, presented by Jersey Live and supported by Brothers Cider at CHICAGO ROCK. Compered by cabaret-rapper The Midnight Expresso (who will also be performing live), the line up also features post-rockers Schillaci, energetic punk upstarts Pirate Video Company and garage rock outfit The Centeniers, with more live acts to be announced.
Celebrating the finest DJs and live bands to emerge on Jersey’s evidently thriving scene over the last twelve months, the Waterfront is the only place to be as we wave goodbye to 2009 and offer a warm welcome to 2010. Happy New Year!
