Kaluki remains Sankeys’ firebrand connoisseurs of hedonism, instilling the Saturday night feeling in Manchester’s glitterati for nigh on half a decade now. Edging their way into the unknown territory of the new year, they are also doffing their cap to the season of love that envelopes February, throwing a party the day before Valentine’s Day that celebrates the harmony of coupledom with a glittering partnership. Though this isn’t some soft love-in, instead their getting low down and dirty with one of the most iconic of Ibizan parties, and hauling Zoo Project down for a special soiree.
Zoo Project have been behind one of the biggest coups in Ibizan folklore of recent times, staging parties in the zoo that never was. Completely on the cusp of the underground, their Channel Zoo project was one of the success stories of summer 2009, focusing on record labels and their ‘channeled’ output and shedding the spotlight on the wunderkinds of tomorrow’s house music beats. They were joined by the likes of Johnny D, Seth Troxler, Tobi Neumann and Jamie Jones, summarizing the ebullient abandon that is Ibiza at its best. And that Balearic sunshine will loft its rays upon Manchester.
And naturally the talent the two combing powerhouses have assembled deserves of their reputations with a glut of the underground finest representing. Saytek is headlining, the man Zoo Project asked to mix their hotly acclaimed mix compilation and a frequent star of their most alluring parties. Also showing his face is Yaya, one of the most promising starlets on Loco Dice’s Desolat imprint and a composed master of the grooves and complexities of house music. Bavarian wonder Defex, the three deck master, also pops up as do deadly duo Nic and Caleb whose sex drenched sets made them Zoo Project’s most in demand residents. Kaluki themselves offer up residents Ellesse who joins Gow, Lee Pennington and Pete Zorba.
