Hi folks,
For our second party at Day+Night we are proud to present a DJ set from producer of "the heathen rhythm of primitive electronic music" - Capracara.
The man behind the name is Jonathan Burnip. As Capracara, he has recently released on megalabel DFA, as well as 2 acid drenched singles on UK label Soul Jazz, and has produced remixes for Matt Edward’s Rekids label and Kill The DJ. He is also one half of Tiger Timing (with previous under_score guest Secondo) and has contributed to the esoteric disco label History Clock, the prolific and massive italo/euro/disco edit series Automan and his latest project "Churchill's Leopards" with Joel Martin of Quiet Village.
His recent 12" "King of the Witches" for the Tim Goldsworthy and James Murphy's high profile DFA label is a perfectly formed disco composition, filtering elements of far-sighted Krautrock, endless Chicago discohouse rhythms, and a sound sphere from another planet into an 8 minute trip into outer dancefloor spaces. Imagine wayward disco producer Arthur Russell rubbing up next to acid master Jamal Moss to create a frictionless polyrhythmic groove, pulling off the delicate act of sounding classic and fresh at the same time.
The track received a remix from top New York production team Rub'N'Tug who turned the track into a heavy breathing sleaze monster with slowly arpeggiated Italo bass and spookily reverbed synthlines to conjure a haunted disco space.
In support we have a selection of Bristol's finest djs; Luke Malcher & Jim Petherwick (under_score) and special guest Shaun Tennant ( Albany Hi-Fi ) playing the hottest sounds around.
