Promoter / (pretty) girls + lasers, Chris Alker Raging against the dancing wasteland, OFF THE GRID is a once-a-month event which focuses on dance music that you won't hear on a typical Friday or Saturday night. It will focus on a collage of Mutant Disco, Punk Funk, House, No Wave, Early Electro, Synth, Italo and New Romantics.
Special guest DJs who have contributed, or continue to contribute to expanding the musical spectrum in NY will share the decks each month with the Resident NY DJ Chris Alker of SUBTRAK records.
This month's special guest DJs are (Pretty ) Girls + Lasers.
(Pretty) Girls & Lasers is a NYC-based DJ & production duo made up of Jack McCloy & Levi McDonough. They've been working to spread the electro-indie sound to more of the clubs here in New York, providing an alternative to the hard house and progressive trance that has dominated the club scene. Primary Colors, their monthly party at Arlo & Esme in the East Village, is quickly becoming one of the most popular indie-dance nights in Manhattan. Beginning in April they'll be showcasing their music on Thursday nights at Gallery Bar in the Lower East Side.
