Circus 4th Birthday photo gallery
Saturday September 30th is set to be a rather special date indeed as Circus celebrates its fourth birthday party pulling in a diverse range of world class DJs reflecting the very best music the house spectrum has to offer whilst making techno, disco and electro excursions too.
Hailed as one of the best house nights in the world and awarded the Radio One House Rules 2005 Best UK Club, Circus has evolved into a hugely respected party embracing a seriously good fun policy. And there aren't many clubs that can lay claim to offering a resident like Yousef, who is eager to get behind the decks in the Theatre again after a break during the summer. One of the most dedicated, exciting and upfront DJs around, Yousef pioneers an infectious house sound of sleazy jackin' beats and techno-edged workouts that see him as one of the best players around. Yousef also releases his new EP 'The Approach/Spooky' in the week of the birthday and his Drum Bums collaboration with Steve Mac, 'The Idea', is fast becoming one of this year's big Ibiza tunes. Having his own club right inn the heart of his home city is something very special for Yousef, who attributes the success of Circus down to the hard work from all involved and the loyal crowds who flock every month.
Circus welcomes special guest Sander Kleinenburg for his debut. He's one of the scene's biggest players and has been pushing his 'This is...' parties around the world to great effect. Let's not overlook the remixing work he's done for superstars such as Justin Timberlake, Janet, Usher and N.E.R.D., the Eurythmics and the hit remix he has recently done for Mylo's 'Muscle Car'.
As a special treat for the heads, Moodymann steps up to the fray for a rarer than blue moon Liverpool set of complete and utter dopeness. As enigmatic as they come, this guy is revered the world over and yes, he sometimes DJs behind a sheet too! The Detroit musician/producer/DJ is renowned for blurring genre definitions and producing music alongside the likes of Theo Parrish, Gene Farris and Kerri Chandler. Moodyman aka Kenny Dixon Jnr. is an inspired booking for Circus and one that reflects the night's progression as it further explores what great house music has to offer, eschewing the more obvious choices.
It's been a meteoric rise for Switch - or Solid Groove - whose remixes have found themselves into pretty much every in-the-know record box around the world. Dave's cheeky approach to production is building him quite a reputation as a consistently fresh, risk-taking quirkster, delivering quality cuts with an element of funk and soul, which continuously impress the underground elite, including the absolute club smashers 'Get Ya Dub On' and 'This Is Sick'. Dave's appeal stems from his accessible, twisted records in the ball-park that is dance music, throwing influences in from Squarepusher, Outkast, Prefuse 73, the Neptunes and Kenny Dope.
Locodice guests too, bringing his famed tribal, bassline-driven sound that gave him his residency at Ibiza's DC-10 and Germany's favorite venue, Tribehouse. Now resident at Cocoon too and a DJ in huge demand, the popular German has also released one of the tunes of the summer, Seeing Through Shadows, a devastating acidic minimal workout.
Residents Lewis Boardman and Will Jazz complete this incredible lineup. Lewis continues to produce some amazing tracks of his own which are already getting played by some big names and this summer he is playing at Amnesia and We Love... Sundays in Ibiza. Will brings his deep beats and treats to the bar faithful and both can't wait to make the night go off with a huge bang.
Happy birthday Circus!
