Episode 1: The Turn On
As the global race for renewable energy continues.
There's a new club experience in town; POWER STATION
On Good Friday 2nd April, our generator will be turned on for a non-stop six hours of pure dance energy.
Guests working the rhythm are:
Tom Furse (The Horrors, Spider and the Flies)
Whist traveling across the states last summer on a tour bus.
Tom and his other band members, trawled through dozens upon dozens of record shops, from urban city sprawls to lonely one street towns.
Being lucky to discover and dig through many of each on the their journey, has resulted in a impressive collection of rare Detroit Techno, Chicago House and even Bollywood Funk!
Tom, also a noble fan of the Shari Vari aesthetic (which is always a great starting point in conversation, might i add)
Recorded a short mix tape for Vice a few months back which indicates what we can look forward to hearing at full volume at POWER STATION.
If you have witnessed the vigorous nature of Complexxion's sets at Nitefreq, Cocadisco or Topnice, you'll know his selection style well. Or perhaps your more familiar with his music, supported in recent months on mix tapes by New York's Minimal Wave to L.A.'s Dâm Funk.
POWER STATION sees the dark analog vale once again lifted for this his first official DJ appearance of 2010.
Two hours that will vibrate your soul, from influential 77 - 84 synth records, to his unique brand of disco noir.
Warming up we have new boy J-Louie on the scene, making sure the tone is set right from the start.
The venue is a new bar / club called The Alibi in Dalston,
ideal size with a decent sound system, please arrive early to secure a good spot, close to the action.
