The Students for the Exploration and Development of Space at U-M (SEDS@UM) is collaborating with the Michigan Electronic Dance Music Association (MEDMA) and the Russian Student Association to bring you a night worthy of commemorating humanity's achievements in space and technology.
On April 12th, 1961, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first man to fly in space. This moment now shines as one of the greatest technological achievements humanity has ever achieved, and embodies the human spirit for exploration and innovation. Every year, those who care deeply about progress and innovation, space enthusiasts, dance enthusiasts, engineers, scientists, and PEOPLE from around the world celebrate this event to reflect on all that we have accomplished in space, and bring together the people who dream about space and progress, and the people who actually work to make it happen.
In the spirit of space and its exploration, Necto's main floor will be space-d out for what is surely going to be one of the greatest dance parties and community-wide celebrations of 2010. MEDMA will be at the decks laying down the best EDM around, and SEDS@UM will be coordinating a costume contest between each of the student groups involved.
You can also expect a ridiculous space/technology/robot/future-themed costume competition between the various interested student organizations...
Come out to celebrate the progress of humanity and technology, come out because you love space, because you want to build community, or just because you want to dance. SEDS@UM, MEDMA, and RSA all hope to see you there!
