DMX Krew (Boogie/disco set)
BLOGGER'S DELIGHT 4th BIRTHDAY
Dmx Krew (Disco/boogie set)
Julio Bashmore (Dirtybird)
With residents Casper C, Skull Juice and NikNikNik
I know what you're thinking. We don't look a day over 3 years old. But believe it or not, it really is our fourth birthday this May, bringing back memories of parties gone by with heroes and villains such as Justice, Alexander Robotnick, Joakim, Nathan Fake, James Murphy and L-Vis 1990, and the various power-cuts, balloon fights, broken furniture mishaps and headaches in the morning.
The best birthday parties are about simultaneously looking backwards and forwards, ruminating on what once was and conjuring up visions of the future. DMX Krew, a true legend for whom an introduction feels almost churlish, this kind of behaviour is second nature. Having released several albums on Aphex Twin's Rephlex label, as well as a slew of releases on Tiga's Turbo label, amongst others, his sound is rooted in the origins of 'electro' and its myriad strains. A music-junkie in the truest sense, we've invited him to dig into his disco and boogie archives for a unique set. He'll be taking to the decks at 7pm, so make sure to get down early for this one!
Sitting just beneath Mr DMX, we have two young-guns which we are anticipating very big things for. Hot City's releases on Ramp Recordings, as well as their unmistakeably ravey remixes, have been fixtures in our DJ sets for some time now, and if this peak-time DJ set doesn't tear the roof off, we'll eat everybody's hats! Julio Bashmore is another studio talent whose records barely leave the decks at Blogger's Delight. We reckon they'll sound even better when spun by the man himself!
Guiding you in from start to finish will be the faithful residents, Casper C, Skull Juice and NikNikNik, who go anywhere from ambient electronica to kraut-rock to disco edits to no-wave to 2-step garage to deep-house to techno to emotional encores. It's our birthday, and we'll cry if we want to!
