Anthony Parasole (Deconstruct / Club House / halcyon | Brooklyn)
About Electrik Soul
In 1993, somewhere deep in Queens NY, there was a record label, and that record label had no rules. It wasn’t about deep, progressive, funky or tech. It wasn’t about fitting nicely into a particular pigeon-hole, with it’s nice fancy label. This label was open to it all, so long it was electronic soul. This label made its name fusing techno and house with tribal rhythms long before it was fashionable. This label is Electrik Soul. A new genre was thus formed, and this was it’s name. With a strong core of highly talented, like-minded producers who had similar ideas, the label soon took over most record stores and flight cases around the world for 10 solid years. In 2003, Electrik Soul shut off the lights and let the digital revolution begin it’s new course. Now, after a brief hiatus, DJ Onionz re-introduce Electrik Soul, NY’s finest purveyor of Future Electronic Soul. Electrik Soul has always been known for it’s great collaborations and now, that formula continues from where it left off. Starting off with a fine statement of intent from the head-honcho himself, Onionz, with the ‘Liquid Salsa EP’. We hope you’re all are excited and are ready to enjoy the ride with the Electrik Soul crew….. We are….!!
About Anthony Parasole
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Anthony Parasole has had a lifelong love affair with electronic dance music. His ears first perked up back when the city’s FM radio mix shows played the proper underground tracks from New York, Chicago, and Detroit. Hip-Hop from the late ’80s to mid ’90s also had a huge influence on Parasole whose raw style to this day bears the indelible mark of the gritty New York street-music that permeated his environs. Primed thusly by the streets and the airwaves, Anthony headed for New York’s downtown clubs and outer-borough Storm Raves where his mind was finally blown wide open for good. A regular at spots from Limelight to Twilo, Anthony was never content to be just another party kid so he began scouring the record stores for all of his favorite tracks, slowly amassing a formidable collection and the skills to match. From ‘05 to ‘07 Anthony worked as a buyer at halcyon where he multiplied the size of his record collection and his rolodex. Along with his co-worker Alex Dirttt aka Native Sound, Anthony helmed halcyon’s monthly “New Jack City” event at APT where he hosted The Martinez Brothers, Slam Mode, MKL, Adultnapper, Nick Chacona, Todd Sines, Brennan Green, and many more, leading to appearances at bigger clubs like Cielo, Rebel and Pacha where he opened for Derrick May, Cajmere, and Layo and Bushwacka! With his star steadily on the rise, Anthony teamed with another halcyon alum, Levon Vincent, to launch the Deconstruct label in ‘08. The first release, Vincent’s Invisible Bitchslap, was an instant smash, heralded by German tastemakers Marcel Dettmann, Shed, and Jan Krueger. Influential shops like Hardwax and even halcyon were left clamoring for more when the first pressing was sold out in one week. ‘08 also saw Parasole team with yet another former halcyon mainstay, DJ Spinoza of Bunker fame, to launch the House-n-Home loft party series, establishing Parasole as a DJ ready and able to hold it down alongside serious House maestros like Jus-Ed, Move-D, Dixon, Lawrence, Patrice Scott and Keith Worthy. Fast forward to 2010. With his Club House parties packing in the dancers at Union Square Ballroom and the first productions emerging from his new studio buzzing, you’ll find Anthony Parasole next to Fred P. and DJ Qu on the shortlist of NYC talent that is once again leading the way for the global House nation.
