+ CLIVE HENRY (Circo Loco -UK)
Clive Henry Intro: Clive Henry may be better known as one half of Peace Division. Through the success of their highly acclaimed productions, Peace Division are now considered amongst England's finest production and remixing teams!
An overnight success? Not!! Clive has been clubbing for over 14 years and a DJ for over 11 years. After a couple of years regularly attending London’s now legendary Shoom, Spectrum and Queens, he started running and playing at his own successful parties called Gosh: which he co-promoted alongside Rocky (X-Press 2/Problem Kids). Soon Rocky's production talents took off, so one of Europe's infamous club promoters Charlie Chester stepped in to help!
As Gosh came to a close after an eventful and successful 3 years, Clive re-united with Rocky and new boy Lofty (Flying / Chilli Funk Records) to start a new night called 'The Bone' which was just as notorious as the Gosh nights. Regular guest DJs at The Bone included David Holmes, Ashley Beedle, and Bob Jones among other legendaries.
As the parties grew in stature so did Clive's reputation as a DJ. He soon found himself gracing the decks at Flying at the Soho Theatre Club, Full Circle, Basics (Leeds), Venus (Nottingham) and Cream, to name but a few. International bookings have taken him to Ibiza, Israel, Crete, Majorca, Malta, Mexico, Portugal, Prague, Amsterdam, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Japan, Australia and America.
Clive and Rocky formed the record label Low Pressings in 1996, originally as an outlet for the Soul Purpose and Peace Division productions. Now with nearly 50 releases in the bag, the label is considered one of the most highly respected underground dance labels in the UK and has released tracks by H-Foundation, 6400 Crew, Spacejunk, Flow, Autonomous Soul, Da Sun Lounge, M Trax, Def-E, Marcelo Castelli and countless others. The label has gone from strength to strength and is now launching a new sub-label called Room 4 Recordings. The first release is due out in December 2001.
Clive is now resident at London's 'Elements' hosted by Hooj Choons as well as spinning at Fabric, The End, Cream, Renaissance, Alaska, you get the picture! Overseas, Clive has already spun this year at Toronto, New York, Miami, San Francisco, Montreal, San Diego, Dallas, Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Eilat, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Peru, Buenos Aires, Rotterdam, Denmark, Switzerland, Madrid, Portugal, Ibiza and the infamous Circo Loco at DC10 where he was resident. Forthcoming gigs include tours of South Africa and Australia!
+ ROBBIE LOWE (Proton, SYDNEY)
Over his 15 year career behind the decks Robbie Lowe is undeniably one of Australia’s most talented and respected Deep & Tech-House to Progressive & Techno DJ’s. Robbie has been given props by some of the biggest names in dance music today, that include John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, James Zabiela, Way Out West & Danny Howells. If an international artist has come through Sydney over the past decade, there’s a good chance Robbie has supported them at least once.
Fast track to 2010 where Robbie recently played at Sydney’s Big Day Out festival, as well support sets for Steve Lawler, John Digweed and Way Out West. The rest of the year Robbie has impressive gig schedule that includes a residency at Spice, Shrug & Sunday Sessions.
Add to this a forthcoming solo EP and remix work with fellow Sydney DJ Tim Culbert (with who he also compiles the highly acclaimed ‘Colour Mix’ series), showcasing the deeper side of house music.
James Zabiela “That was amazing” Robbie warming up for James @ Arq 2008
John Digweed "Thats the best platform I have had to start from all tour." Robbie warming up for John @ Home Night Club Sydney 2005.
+ YOKOO (Kina Music, FRANCE)
Currently based in Australia, YokoO is an original French born - European raised - lover of all things deep. A true “artiste” in every sense of the word, he vows to take his listener on an hypnotic mind voyage through the soul embodying spirit and passion – and he always delivers...
YokoO has emerged as a DJ/Producer of significance, boosting the Deep House sector of the dance music industry with his masterful mixing skills and a refined sense of tune selections, with subtle melodies that clamber atop the senses and thick instrumental textures strewn atop profound bass lines that surge powerfully through exposed bodies and corners.
His Dj sets lend themselves easily to different locations and are adaptable to various environments from small intimate spaces to festivals. He utilises sounds like the Frenchman pampers his lover, caressing his listener’s spirit with soft beautiful and hypnotic sounds lullabies alike. He never fails to deliver the drive that will bring you to climax and, with finite precision, gently lays you back down surrounded by warmth and satisfaction.
His first 12” released on PlusMinus Recordings has been played and charted by major players in the scene such as John Digweed, Anthony Pappa, Gorge, Brothers Vibe, Valentino Kanzyani, DJ Fex, Slam, Phonogenic, Roberto Rodriguez, Louis Osbourne and Shades Of Gray to name a few. Each of his upcoming releases are impatiently awaited. Keep an ear out, as 2010 will be an exciting year for YokoO and his “Musique Sentimentale”.
+ NIC SCALI (House Inspection, SYDNEY)
Nic Scali aka Nicky Ninetoes was destined to be a professional sailor until he lost a toe in a tragic skurfing accident, when he turned to music to "fill the gap. "Anything with a groove" is how Nic likes to describe his own taste of music.
You can find this new young talent on the dance floor of Sydney's parties most weekends, as he puts it "I just love to party." One definitely gets this feeling when listening to his DJ sets, where he plays anything from 90s house music to the newest techno tunes but all the time making sure the people are moving and the party is grooving.
Before he even turned 18, Nic was throwing parties at clubs for all his friends just so he could play the music he wanted. As he matured so did his taste in electronic music leading him to a deeper more refined sound influenced by the underground house and techno scene in Europe. He is also influenced heavily by his passion for jazz and rhythmic percussion.
Watch this space as this young gun continues to party his way through Sydney dragging along anyone who wants to join in the fun.
