JAZZSTEPPA (Dubstep / Dub / Jazz)
http://www.myspace.com/jazzsteppa
Born out of a meeting of minds at a Berlin Jazz festival in 2006, the unique Jazzsteppa collective effortlessly and genuinely collide the worlds of live and electronic music, combining the experimentalism and soul of Jazz with the programming and dancefloor aesthetic of dubstep, and in the process inject a breath of fresh air and a new perspective to both. Releases on the revered Hot Flush imprint and their own JazZstePpa label, amongst others, have seen them hone their sound to a fine art, bursting with energy, musicality and low-end weight.
Single launch of 'Investment Decision'!! on the night.
Following the success of the mighty ‘Big Swing Sound’ for Studio Rockers, we are proud to announce the return of the inimitable sounds of Jazzsteppa to the label with the fantastic ‘Investment Decision’.
DR DAS / EMERGENCY BASS SOUND SYSTEM (Experimental / Dub)
http://www.myspace.com/drdas
Bassist/performer/producer Dr Das was one of the founder members of Asian Dub Foundation (ADF), which developed out of a youth music workshop he was running at London based music organization CM in 1993. He left ADF at the end of 2005 to resume his exploration of dub related experimental music and engage in new collaborations. He has since played bass with the likes of Red Cardell from Brittany, jazz clarinetist Arun Ghosh, Istanbul's Baba Zula and Dub Colossus (the Ethiopian project).
The current DR DAS Live Show, also kown as "EMERGENCY BASS SOUND SYSTEM" features DR DAS on Bass and Voice, BANTU on AKAI MPC and DUBBING. and RAMJAC on Djembe and Percussion. The approach is "DUBPROVISATION" - Three way improvisation and musical interaction, the idea being to stretch out and decimate the original song structures.
