POWERPLANT (solo set)

Led by virtuoso percussionist and educator, Joby Burgess, POWERPLANT explore high-octane percussion-led music with an electronic sound. Joby will be previewing several voyages from his upcoming album Import/Export: Suite for global junk, a suite composed entirely for wooden pallet, plastic bags, oil drum and FANTA bottles!

Fresh from his performances with Peter Gabriel, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Graham Fitkin and Steve Reich, this is a rare opportunity to see this genre-trashing pioneer perform in an intimate and innovative setting.

Nonclassical are pleased to be the host for the premier performance of nine short works for violin and laptop. Performed by Aisha Orazbayeva and nine composers from RAM, the pieces explore the instrument by transforming its sound in real time and by mixing it with pre-recorded violin samples.
