Voigtmann (Trama Rec./Toi Toi)
Louis Guilhem (Minimal Carnival / Lo*kee)
Toi Toi is a promotion brought to you by Isis Salvaterra and Claus Voigtmann. These 2 individuals are known for being very 'picky' with their music and praise for the highest quality not only on track selection but technique, set construction and a very good dance floor feeling. A lot of dedication and time is put into researching the artists that are showcased at Toi Toi. There is a very fundamental reason why each artist is chosen, some of them you might know, some you don't so here is an insight into these reasons, the rest you will have to come and see for yourself when they are in action!
SEUIL LIVE (EKLO / FREAK'N'CHIC)
A wide range of classical music background like 10 years of playing piano, jazz and blues formation, as well a few years of percussions gave him the feedback to work on electronic music composition.
He always tries to find a personal groove when it comes to his music. His interest in the modern house and techno started with the discovery of the Perlon's crew. With influences like Pantytec, Zip, Melchior, Cabanne, Ricardo Villalobos,…show us two different sides in Seuil's music : dark rolling basses along with modern shaking house, but always with the same groovy spirit, shake it ! to note that he is always inspired by his parisians friends that he collaborates quite often to give more noises for the dance floor. After couples of remixes on Adjunct, Leftroom, Rrygular, Stock 5, Seuil had one track on the minibar compilation(milkshake 01), and on the Lessizmore compilation…
He had a new ep on minibar coming soon…, the « deep hook » ep his planned for spring on Lomidhigh Organic..a new ep on Moon Harbour (040), anew ep on Freak'n Chic and a new ep on Eklo,..and some other news soon
In 2008, he follows the story with Eklo his own label ,hosting on wax new artists in the family like Laps, dOP, Skat, Tolga Fidan, Agnès… as well as his own creations. Even if Seuil live act used to be new everytime….For 2008 everything was managed to be fresh new music...
DEWALTA (MEANDER / VAKANT)
In 1999 David moved to Berlin to attend an elite music conservatory and continued to play jazz taking part in Berlin’s young jazz scene. Just 2 years later he left the high school conservatory to attend the Hans Eissler Music College for jazz and pop where he studied saxophone, piano, composition, and music theory. Of course here he also found many suitable ensembles to play with ranging in style from big band and free jazz, to funk and Latin music.
By 2003, as was common for many gifted musicians, David started the doubt the necessity of musical education. Though trained as an instrumentalist for most of his life, he felt limited by traditional performance with control of just one element of a piece. The emphasis of improvisation in jazz led him to experimentation, composition, and giving into the natural genesis of producing his own music. He started to acquire studio equipment, experimented with different sounds, founded a disco band, and made his first forays into producing electronic music events. Berlin was also a vinyl paradise which David did not overlook quickly amassing a collection delving deeper into electronic music. His eclectic endeavors continued to dominate composing theatrical music, expanding his studio, studying jazz at the music college, and partaking in the bohemian urban paradise that was and still is Berlin.
David continued to expand his studio, improved his production skills, and advanced his productions. By 2007 he founded his Meander label and began releasing his first electronic records. Just a year later long time friend and Vakant big daddy snapped up David leading to the drop of the ‘Salgaro/Farina’ EP (VA021) on the world’s dance floors. With a bass presence not easily described in words and the musical expanse that floats on top of his debut Vakant release, DeWalta became instantly known to all those seeking massive funk with their freak. With so much music already under his belt and the platform that is Vakant, we envision a mad scramble of the world’s sound technicians to technically accommodate such a talent in the time to come.
Voigtmann (Trama Rec. / Toi Toi)
Claus Voigtmann was born in Bavaria- Germany. Art in general has always played a major part of Claus’ life. He has graduated in Architecture Engineering in Munich. Since it is of so important for Claus to express himself in various artistic ways it is not hard to see why he ended up choosing music as a form of expression.
By listening to his sets it can be seen that his musical knowledge is very refined, not only by being technically competent but he seems to have what it takes to take his crowd on a journey with a very sensible set construction and by presenting a good/well researched track selection which goes away from the ‘hype’ within the underground music spectrum available.
Claus has played alongside many dj colleagues at Clubs/Locations/Parties in Europe e.g. Klub Rakete, Nuremberg (Germany), Delano, Ibiza (Spain), The Doors Club (UK), Ministry of Sound (UK), Russian Bar (UK), Lockside Lounge(UK), Lo*kee (UK) and several London Warehouses. The stuff he plays can be described as jazz-influenced-deep-flavoured-subdriven grooves or simply MUSIC!
Just recently he released a remix on vinyl & digital on TRAMA RECORDS, the biggest Brazilian record label and is currently working with his own promotion Toi Toi.
Louis Guilhem (Minimal Carnival / Lo*kee)
Louis Guilhem was born in France, Montpellier and grew up surrounded by music. His father was a guitar player and music lover and his sister a pianist and is now a professional singer in France. Louis Guilhem became interested in music at a young age and as teenager enjoyed playing the drums and creating rhythm with different tools. He soon swapped the drums for decks and fell in love with electronic music. He moved to London at the age of 19 and soon after got his first gig at the infamous Café 1001 and found his place around the East London scene. After playing at clubs such as Ministry of Sound and several warehouse parties he started promoting his own night 'Minimal Carnival'. It was where Louis developed his own style. At just 23 years old he has already played at places and parties such as Tbar, Kubicle, Gramaphone, Unit7 in London, Bar25 in Berlin, Batofar and La Terassa in Paris and Genau in Sweden. He recently joined the Lo*kee crew as one of their residents. So far he’s been sharing the DJ booth with artists like Jamie Jones, Tobi Neumann, Clive Henry just to mention a few. His refreshing and unexpected DJ performances are a delightful mix of exclusive and underground house and minimal that include many of his own productions, all of which are, of course, as groovy as can be.
