Big thanks to all that came down to witness a storming set from the mighty Inland Knights at our opening party on May Bank Holiday weekend; fantastic stuff, we're sure you'll agree! Next up we at Subject* have got another little treat up our sleeves for y'all:
RHYTHM PLATE (Mantis/DiY Discs/Winding Road/Hudd Traxx/Lost My Dog)
Rhythm Plate are Matt Rhythm and Ant Plate, two 'boompty bumpkins' from the sleepy lil' Derbyshire town of Matlock. Don't let that put you off though, they also happen to produce some of the finest deep house music you're ever likely to get yer ears around; their discog charts a drunken course through some of the best house labels around, such as Mantis, BlueM, Winding Road, Hudd Traxx, Flat & Round, Artizan, Procreation, Kolour, 3am and Lost My Dog - if that's not a sure fire sign of quality then we're not sure what is!?!
More? Well aside from remixing some of the top bods in the game (like Barrack Obama, Graham Norton, Phil & Gary Neville etc), the chaps have also had their music licensed to everything from Mark Farina & H-Foundation compilations through to CSI Miami(!). In fact, they've also had tracks picked up by Ministry of Sound and even lent a bit of deep house credibility to one of Hed Kandi's Beach House albums. Bloomin' heck!
We must give props to their little side projects too while we're on, where they've had yet more high-grade output under their separate Bleep District and YSE guises to great success. Nuff love!
Oh, and when not making awesome records, Ant Plate sells Deep House Insurance and Rhythm is a Dancer.
The Subject* residents crew will be in attendance once again, with Chris Moore & Paul Growns alongside their secret weapon Matt Housley setting the tone ahead of the main event. Only problem being that we normally play at least 16 Rhythm Plate tracks per set, so we're gonna have to keep our fingers out of the biscuit tin on this occasion.
Oh, and if you've not noticed, this is indeed a FREE PARTY! Yeah, FREE!!! Well ok, how's about we go for free before midnight and then £2 thereafter? Simple answer is you either get down early and come in for nowt or risk being badgered to chuck some coins in a bucket before you cross the threshold.
Subject* is a special series of irregular, one-off parties in the intimate surroundings of SAWA's wonderfully darkened loft space, bang in the middle of Sheffield. Big soundsystem in a little room. Ya knows it. Doors upstairs are 10pm til 4am and the SAWA family will be on hand to provide a soulful sunshine soundtrack in the bar downstairs all neet.
Any Other Business:
Finally, we thought you might want to know a little secret .....shhhhhhhh....... the next big bash is also all booked with another leading light of the UK underground, from one of the most lauded house labels on the scene today. Of course it would be all too easy to give away more details now, so in the interest of tension and suspense we'll be saving it to announce at the Rhythm Plate gig, so keep yer peepers open for info on the night!
