Evil Nine’s Artist Profile:
Evil Nine have experienced huge success the world over, releasing two critically acclaimed albums ‘You Can Be Special Too' & 'They Live!', which include collaborations with the likes of Aesop Rock, EL-P, Autokratz, Juice Aleem, Toastie Taylor & Emily Breeze. Tom Beaufoy and Pat Pardy first combined skills in 1998 and were quickly identified as a quality DJ/Producer duo by Adam Freeland who signed them to his Marine Parade label. Since then each of their releases have distinguished EvilNine as innovators who refuse to blend into the scene. Deriving their musical flavour from multiple influences including post punk, italio disco, electro, classic power ballads, techno, krautrock, yacht rock, hip hop & 80's electronic movie soundtracks – their sound is original and minimal packed with emotive ability. Later remixes of NASA, The Temper Trap, Juice Aleem & Ian Brown are imminent whilst the duo were working on the materials for release on Marine Parade.
Evil Nine has developed a reputation amongst both fans and critics as not being afraid to push the boundaries of what is considered breakbeat music, and tend to incorporate a multitude of styles into their DJ sets. An example of this is the track listing for Fabriclive 28, which includes artists as diverse as Bodyrockers, Mystery Jets, and The Clash. As well as regularly playing at various nightclubs both in the UK and Europe they have held residencies at Fabric Nightclub in London and Audio in Brighton, and held the position of "Super-Residents" at Urban Gorilla in Sheffield.
But the latest most important news for all Evil Nine fans and music lovers here in Hong Kong is Evil Nine’s debut release on their new label For-Lovers.
