The very first in the series of Mud Havana World Service parties showcasing a wide variety of urban genres from cities all over the world. Tonight's sessions feature NYC's Drop the Lime ripping it up with his eclectic global bass selections, Dublin's Groovalizacion crew giving us a taste of everything from live reggae, dancehall, cumbia and even an hour of dancefloor mashing Balkan beat. Upstairs in the Mezz Spectrum hold it down for the UK DnB scene with Total Science's Q-Project and Mr Jones' Frank rocks the Box Favela style...

Brooklyn based Drop the Lime is the honcho of fast rising label Trouble and Bass alongside AC Slater. His newest material and DJ sets feature live vocals on original compositions.

GROOVALIZACION

Groovalizacion is a group of artists, journalists, video producers linked via a website they continuously feed : www.groovalizacion.com and which offers a 24hrs music selection, podcasts, videos, music reviews. With the ultimate intention of breaking far flung musical scenes to new audiences, as well as building bridges between people of different cultures, they are weaving a net that encompasses the traditional, the modern, the eastern and the western all tied by the groove.

Dublin based band Madu will be first to kick off this special event. Fronted by dub and beats controller Salim and vocalist Aminah, Madu plays a catchy and infectious combination of dub, soul and reggae. The Irish answer to New Zealanders Fat Freddy's Drop, their performance at Africa day 2010 will be remembered as one of the highlight of this year festival.

Following the band performance, Dj Oki and Dj iZem will join forces behind the desks for a special Dub / digital cumbia / latin Dancehall set. Co-Founders of Groovalizacion Radio and Dublin Tropical! club night they have made themselves masters at spinning new global urban beats and avant-garde worldwide grooves. They will be accompanied on stage by Bongo Le Roux on electronic percussions.

To conclude the night, Dj V V, newly appointed Groovalizadora will present a mix of Balkan Gypsy music mashed-up with Hip-hop and modern day electronica.
MADU

Madu is the music of sister and brother team Aminah and Salim Dastan. Influenced by Dub, Jazz, Soul, Ska, and much more, they have written and produced music together, on and off for over ten years. With the help of some very talented friends, they will be performing versions of these original works, and introducing some new material along the way to.

Q Project is currently signed to Hospital & CIA Records. He also makes up one half of Total Science, along with fellow producer Paul Smith (who produces under the name Spinback). He is best known for his release "Champion Sound", one of the better known rave anthems of the 1990s.
