Alteration presents the long-awaited return of one of the masters of deep, quality Drum and Bass!
SEBA (Secret Operations, Metalheadz, 31 Records – Sweden)
*First NYC appearance in over 4 years!!!*
Originating from Ingaro, an island just outside Stockholm, Sebastian Ahrenberg started producing in the early 90s. Working with a basic home studio, he experimented with breakbeats and techno before finding his own unique style in drum and bass. Released on Swedish label Svek, under the alias Sunday Brunch, his techno productions include some of his first collaborations with long-term studio spars Lenk and Robert Manos.
Seba’s track 'Sonic Winds', written together with Lotek, was among his first drum and bass productions to be released on Good Looking and was selected by label boss LTJ Bukem for his Logical Progression mix cd series. Further releases soon followed, from the sublime and soulful ‘Planetary Funk Alert’ to the rich and ethereal ‘Valley of the Moomins’, and marked Seba as one of the finest exponents of an emerging new style.
To showcase his music and bring like-minded artists to his native shores, Seba started the club night Secret Operations in 1997. From humble beginnings in a cellar bar named Tuben in central Stockholm, the club went on to long run of successful nights. By 1999 the club had given rise to a record label with the same name.
The first release on Secret Operations came in the form of a compilation CD entitled ‘Case One’, bringing together music from Alaska, Lotek and Seba himself under his Forme guise. Staying true to it’s name, the label then went deep undercover only to resurface again in 2003 to present the 12inch single ‘Pieces/Banett’ by Seba and Lenk. Since then, the label has hosted Seba’s solo productions as well as work alongside his friend and fellow breakbeat pioneer, Paradox.
After years of discussing making music together, the pair finally joined forces and immediately made an impact with their first releases together on Bassbin (‘Frost’) and Freak (‘Planet, Stars’). Their single ‘Move On’ on Hospital Records, featuring the vocal talents of Robert Manos, was a massive success and proved their sound has both integrity and broad appeal. More recently Seba has collaborated with another longtime cohort, Krazy, on the tracks ‘High Priestess’ for Paradox Music and ‘Arsenic’ for DJ Marky’s Innerground label.
In late 2008 Seba released his first longplayer on Carharrt’s label Combination Records in conjunction with his own Secret Operations label. Described by Knowledge magazine as “an accomplished and timeless slice of drum & bass” (K-Mag Sept 2008), the album will no doubt stand the test of time and shows Seba at his best delivering classic sound. He also featured twice on the Platinum Series compilation for Metalheadz, with ‘Imperial Moment’ alongside Krazy and ‘Wild One’ featuring Robert Manos on vocals.
In 2009, Seba returned to Secret Operations for the single ’34 Alpha’ b/w ‘Devotion’ in collaboration with Kirsty Hawkshaw. He’s also remixed her track ‘Face to Face’ and featured on Hospital Records’ Sick Music compilation with the release of ‘Snow.’ This will be followed by singles on 31 Records, Secret Operations and a follow-up 12” for Hospital including the highly-anticipated ‘Pressure Point’ in 2010. He also has remixes set for Polar (Warm Communications) and Naibu (Horizons), once again demonstrating his diversity as a producer and the lasting appeal of his unique sound.

Nychavok has already played alongside the likes of Klute, Marcus Intalex, Calibre, Fabio, Makoto, Dieselboy and others. Into the more dark, deep and edgier sounds of Drum n Bass, Nychavok is all about pushing this sound and this city deeper into all music culture. Into his roots, he is also a staunch supporter of the Eastern European sound, and has just begun to work in the production studio.
ADRED (Ctrl V)
Hosted by the one and only:
ROBERT MANOS (Paradox Music, Hospital)
New York resident Robert Manos was introduced to Seba and Jesper Dahlbäck (Lenk) in stockholm, while he was over to visit his son. At first, the trio did a few releases on Swedish house label SVEK, under the name Sunday Brunch. But after some time Seba decided to present his drum & bass work for Robert, who instantly got blown away. “Everytime he comes over to Sweden, he's asking for new tracks to sing on and since Robert's singing style is very stream-of-consciousness like. He calls the tunes we make freudian drum & bass” says Seba. When singing live to a DJ, Robert works like an MC, with a large repertoire of lyrics in his head from over the years. It's incredible to watch him live! He gets so into it, pulling faces and twisting his body up.
