What a 12 months it has been since our 36 hour marathon party last new years! Many thanks to all of you who have supported us and to all the DJ's who have smashed it every Sunday night since, respect! We think we have maintained the right musical balance showcasing both established guests and uncovered some future stars along the way. And of course given the girls and boyz from London town a warm welcome too, transmogrifying Retox into one of London's premier party's. We have another epic celebration planned to see out '06 and ring in 2007. Alongside our fabulous residents we are bringing back some guests who have set Retox alight over the past 12 months swinging between sounds from the London, Paris, & Berlin axis. Kicking off at 8pm and going through till 9am at our exquisite Sosho home, we welcome back three very special guests to work the upper level...
Young DJ/producer Anthony Collins has proved to be the rising star on the French underground house & techno scene. In the last year, he has accumulated signings to cutting-edge labels such as 20:20 Vision, Dirt Crew, Robotronic and Criminal Rec. Already a respected DJ in France he is becoming a fixture on the international scene playing Pacha in Ibiza and Macarena in Barcelona before making his London debut at Retox and gone on to headline the Circo Loco/DC10 party at The End. Maintaining the party spirit throughout his performances, we very much look forward to the Parisian's return for a London exclusive...
As her production career is beginning to blossom, with collaborations with Audiofly an Gabriel & Dresden coming up, the classically trained Scarlett Etienne is making a big name for herself as an exuberant DJ. Always lively behind the decks, in the last couple of years alone she has rocked Pacha and Space with Tenaglia, and has become a fixture in Damian Lazarus¹s Crosstown Rebels parties most recently at Stink/DC10 in Ibiza. After making her Retox bow in October and setting the place on fire she returns for a London exclusive on NYE...
After hearing Dan smashing the retox day party with Andy Weatherall, we had to get him back for a UK exclusive at our NYE event. Dan's story starts a long time ago as he is one of electronic music's legends. He began making music in 1992 in his US home, sparked ten years earlier when he discovered the burgeoning hip-hop movement. Hip-hop, along with new wave, electro, and other sonic innovations of the Eighties began to loom large in his life, and it was only a matter of time before Curtin began experimenting with music creation himself. When he finally heard the futuristic sounds of house and techno, everything changed. He began designing a new sound in techno and house music. Curtin's first few records were released on Detroit's now defunct 33 RPM Records and Belgium's Buzz Records. Shortly thereafter, he started his own label, Metamorphic Recordings. Dancers and listeners alike began to take notice of his innovative sound signature, and before long Dan Curtin found himself being hailed as a key player in techno and house music. With his profile on the rise, he eventually caught the attention of labels diverse as New York's legendary Strictly Rhythm, UK's Peacefrog and Japan's Sublime Records, as well as Chicago house imprints Moody and Afterhours. Curtin has been releasing records regularly on these and other labels for the past decade. With over 60 singles and 7 full-length albums under his belt, Curtin's career is in full swing and storming forward. Despite his hectic schedule, Curtin continues to push boundaries with forward thinking music production as his utmost priority. Relocation in late 2003 to Berlin, has energised Curtin with the rich vitality generated by so many artists and producers working together in one city. We welcome him back for what promises to be another engaging performance..
And it doesn't end there...
We have something very special downstairs too as the space will be transformed into The Private Lounge by east end hosts *Private*. Think red lights, old lamps and sleaze with DJ's Nathaniel & Itch, Ed Davenport, FB Julian, Sophie Oliver and a secret guest.
Expect lots of additional production to transform the venue into a Balearic ambience, alongside a few surprises to boot before we go on to host two more consecutive parties (New Years Day carry on and another party on New Years Day Night) taking you right through to 2 January. Details of these spectaculars will be available at Sosho on NYE making Retox the perfect place to go in one year and out the other. We really hope you can join us for this! Invites are on sale at our Sosho home and Ticketweb (see link below). Please check http://www.myspace.com/retoxclub for further updates. Be warned - Last years event sold out very quickly!
