SUNDAY SURGERY
Monthly Performance Workshops for Stage & Screen
“A smörgåsbord of theatre, a breeding ground for ideas...” www.spoonfed.co.uk
On the last Sunday of every month msft brings together a mix of actors, directors and writers; theatre and film practitioners, who all have one thing in common, the need to create and develop new work from a fresh perspective. We like to think of this ‘freshness’ as the dyslexic perspective and while you do not have to be dyslexic to enjoy the fruits of Sunday Surgery, it really does help!
Sunday Surgery combines a Master Class in writing for performance, lead by industry professionals, with a practical workout for actors and directors, via the staging new scripts, mostly by dyslexic writers. Every playwright receives constructive feedback on their scripts by their contemporaries. Actors and Directors also get the opportunity for future collaborations between like minded practitioners.
Every month, Sunday Surgery, selects extracts from up to four writers to work with, in preparation for this year’s DYS-PLA festival. We operate an open door policy encouraging writers to drop in on the day with their scripts.
This month's featured writer is Charlotte Coates with, The Death of
Norman Tortilla:
Norman lives alone. He wants to die. He would like to do one small thing before this. Will either ever happen?
Guest writers will include Grace Knight, Samuel Kastin and Tracy Harris.
