After a long summer in the sun, outdoors and in all sorts far and wide, we look forward to bringing you all back together for our next Simmer bash back on hometown soil.
Our first event of the winter offers a true musical treat, with a distinctly American flavour and a couple of headliners who have caused a real stir on the scene, updating the roots of the music we all love with their unique modern twists.
Representing the sounds of Chicago, via Sofia, and bringing his spectacular live show will be one of this year's most prolific and exciting producers, KiNK. And from the new school of Detroit sees the return of one of the most intriguing and compelling talents to come out of the US right now, Kris Wadsworth who we have been lucky enough to secure for the opening leg of his European tour.
In just a short space of time, Strahil Velchev aka KiNK has come from being relatively unknown to being one of the most in demand producers and remixers to burst out the trenches of underground house music circles. His unique take on classic house music, with a focus on Chicago's jacking and acid style, together with his countless collaborations with UK producer Neville Watson has lit up DJ charts and dancefloors all over this past year. But his sound isn't simply a re hash of past masters but incorporates a musicality within the edgy grooves that has helped define him as a leader amongst the new innovators of four to the floor. His celebrated 'Rachel EP' on Josh Wink's Ovum was as sweaty and retrospective as anything the label has emitted in its 15 year history, whilst further releases on Rush Hour, Get Physical, Liebe Detail and Freerange have cemented his reputation as someone to take very seriously.
Outed on the Detroit rave scene at 12, producing music since the age of 14 and a complete vinyl junky, Kris Wadsworth is one of the most interesting producers to have recently emerged from the spiritual home of techno. Having offered up a barrage of stunning EP's in 2009, including one of RA's favourite tracks of the year, 'Mainline' on Hypercolour, he embraces the illusive raw edge where vintage house and techno collide successfully, mining the influences of his hometown pioneers and yoking it on to the present. Moving freely between dub esque textures to larger peak time records, Kris' style is true ghetto music, ardently gimmick free and always on vinyl proving that house and techno is all about the energy and not always about the high fidelity.
