EWAN PEARSON AND DISKJOKKE JOIN BEN WATT'S BUZZIN' FLY AS THE LABEL DROPS ITS LATEST SEASONAL LONDON PARTY AT CABLE ON SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 25
With its intimate August date at the newly refurbished Plastic People long sold out, Ben Watt's Buzzin' Fly announces another of their popular bigger seasonal parties to soak up the London spill - the Buzzin' Fly Autumn Party at Cable on Sat Sep 25. It promises to be a step-up from the sweatbox basement vibe, spanning - as did their Summer Party at the same venue - two rooms with a broad-based killer line-up.
This time, honourary fly Ewan Pearson will headline the main room. Now a resident of Berlin, Ewan has become one of the leading producer-remixers and DJs that the UK has produced in recent years. Seminal remixes for artists such as Depeche Mode, Goldfrapp and Cortney Tidwell have been followed by sparkling production credits for artists such as Tracey Thorn, Delphic, and Flowers and Sea Creatures. His recent mix CD for Kompakt ('We Are Proud Of Our Choices') was a highlight of the year, and his powerful DJ sets remain true to the eclectic disco-techno, Italo and raw house roots that first attracted the attention of Soma, his very first label back in the mid nineties. He is supported in the main room by Buzzin' Fly head honcho Ben Watt (recently nominated at Best Deep House DJ at the international DJ Awards 2010 in Ibiza), and longtime sidekick Chris Woodward.
In the second room, the headline set is taken by new Norwegian nu disco sensation, diskJokke. The latest star to emerge in the wake of Lindstrom and Prins Thomas from the Oslo electronica scene, diskJokke (aka Joachim Dyrdahl) cut his teeth at the seminal Sunkissed parties. His remixes for artists such as The xx, Crystal Castles and Friendly Fires drew the plaudits, and he has just released his second studio album, 'En Fin Tid' ('Grooviliciously Scandinavian' / The Guardian). Expect an epic, hip-wiggling, cinematic disco sound. In support is young UK producer-DJ, Jay Shepheard. At the height of 'Minimal', he dropped two killer EPs of luscious deep disco-house on Compost Black Label and instantly made his name. Just back from six months in Berlin, he released his latest future-retro single 'Shelter' on Buzzin' Fly last month, following his acclaimed remix of Glimpse and Martin Eyerer's 'Southern Soul' for the label last summer. Expect a warm, rootsy, midtempo laptop set of original material mixed with raw classics.
