The Wardrobe is one of Leeds’ most respected and historic music venues with a rich history for live music and longstanding reputation for its links with the city’s renowned music scene. From Authechre to Arrested Development and Giles Peterson to Kurtis Blow, the Wardrobe has tirelessly showcased their dedication to credible acts hosted for true music fans.
It is therefore wholly fitting that Friday 12 November sees none other than Detroit’s THEO PARRISH land at the venue’s underground club for an exclusive extended set. For those who haven’t graced The Wardrobe’s club space, set deep below their bar and restaurant in the heart of Leeds, think stripped, raw and underground…for those who have you’ll be aware that is arguably the perfect space to showcase one of the most pioneering musicians to emerge from the motor city in the past two decades.
Theo appears pending the full release of his hugely anticipated album, ‘SKETCHES’, the original promo copies of which sold out within minutes - despite a reported price of €80 upwards in some stores.
A true artist and a real talent Parrish is undoubtedly multitalented. Whether it’s working alongside the infamous MOODYMANN, PITMANN and WILHITE as 3 CHAIRS or solo, combining funk, soul, house, techno and disco to create something totally new, Theo is always extraordinary. Such is his draw, talent and character that this is very rare chance to catch him display his unique DJ style in such a enigmatic venue!
