Oktave is proud to present a showcase for the Beyond Booking agency. Besides booking some of the most sought-after talents in the genre (like the event’s headliner, Donato Dozzy), Beyond Booking is the force behind The Bunker, Brooklyn’s transcendent monthly techno event. The Beyond Booking showcase will be held at Smart Bar on Saturday, January 15th, 2011.
Donato Dozzy
Born in Rome, Donato Dozzy has been fascinated by music even at the early age of his childhood (by the age of 13, he was already a vinyl junkie). He was always dedicated both to music and his studies. In the year 2000, Donato received his doctoral in Political Science and took his passion for music to a professional level. Dozzy has honed a unique style over many years of DJing, a history which has included residential stints at Brancaleone in Rome since 1999, and the Panoramabar in Berlin, where he was the afterhours specialist from 2004 to 2006. Donato has been a highlight performer at the prestigious Labyrinth festival in Japan for the last three years.
As producer, after his early work with the Kitchentools (Virgin, 2001), Donato has been acclaimed by the specialty press and professionals in the field thanks to the records made for Berlin's Orangegroove, Prologue, Lan Muzic, Elettronica Romana, Dozzy Records, Rayliard Rec, Wagon Repair, Geophone Records, Persona Records and on the brand new ‘Aquaplano,’ a platform he founded with his friend Nuel. Donato currently resides in his Wonderland.
Bryan Kasenic
Although Bryan Kasenic (aka Spinoza) is famous for his hugely successful techno monthly in Brooklyn, The Bunker, he is also known in the electronic music world as a talented and adventurous DJ and for starting the Beyond Booking agency.
Bryan started The Bunker in January 2003, eventually turning it into the premier techno weekly in North America - it then morphed into a bigger monthly party in 2009. Over the course of the last several years, The Bunker and Spinoza have played host to the likes of Function, Peter Van Hoesen, Mike Huckaby, Echospace, DVS1, JPLS, Speedy J, Traversable Wormhole, Cassy, Daniel Bell and many, many more.
In 2010, Bryan and Beyond established the Berghain/Panorama Bar residency at the Bunker, which has seen the likes of Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Tobias., Prosumer and Steffi grace the decks. Bryan and Beyond produced three events for the inaugural Unsound Festival New York in February 2010.
Eric Cloutier
Born and bred in Michigan and currently based in Brooklyn, Eric Cloutier is one of a new generation of American DJs bridging the gap between dance music's past and its future. His sets have a sprawling depth and sophistication that fuses the brooding intensity of tripping techno with the mechanic funk of contemporary house.
Cloutier started spinning records in 1996, quickly establishing himself in Detroit's competitive local scene. In 2006, Cloutier made the jump to New York and earned a residency at the The Bunker, as well as mid-week soiree Den of Thieves. He's also begun his own night, Down, in which he often stretches out to play lengthy sets that showcase his range, effortlessly threading together deeper shades of house and dub-infused techno.
Cloutier has recorded two mixes for the influential mnml ssgs podcast series and is beginning to work in the studio for the first time on his own material. In 2009, Eric made his European DJing debut and was tapped to play at Japan's renowned Labyrinth Festival. That latter honor may be the most telling of all: only a select few are asked to spin at Labyrinth (it's the provenance of studious selectors like Daniel Bell, Donato Dozzy and Peter Van Hoesen.)
Jeff Derringer
Jeff Derringer is the co-founder, creative director and resident DJ at Oktave. The Oktave project has seen Jeff host and play alongside techno’s cutting edge: Silent Servant, Cio D’or, Claro Intellcto, Par Grindvik, Samuli Kemppi, DVS1 and many more. Jeff’s latest EP will be released on December 17th via Perc Trax, featuring remixes by Claro Intelecto (Modern Love) and Iori (Prologue).
