Shaun Fae Solar vs. Sam Vitamins
Size matters to Naïve. After being double teamed at Stereo by The Magician and Louis La Roche, Naïve has been left with an appetite for big things. So, where better to go for proper electronic stimulation than Ed Banger Records! Fulfilling all of Naïve’s needs will be two of the label’s finest, DJ Feadz and Mr. Flash!
There are few artists you could imagine playing at both Death Disco and Numbers, but Feadz’s fusion of Hip-Hop breaks and Electro synths has seen him take to both clubs and demonstrate stunning versatility. Known to many for his partnership both inside and outside of the studio with Uffie, Feadz’s production is behind one of the most inventive and popular underground female acts of recent times, as well as his own excellent Happy Meal and PNMB EPs. It’s not just his production skills that shine though, Feadz has fine a reputation behind the decks and is widely regarded as the best DJ on the Ed Banger roster. It’s too much talent, too soon for Naïve.
Feadz will be joined by the original Ed Banger, Mr. Flash! The first artist signed to the label, there’s no doubt that Mr. Flash can still perform and rise to the occasion. His recently released Blood, Sweat and Tears EP is the prefect evidence of that, with a deliciously diverse sound. Having worked with artists from TTC to Mos Def, Mr. Flash is able to crossover from ubiquitous French Electro to a more well rounded sound that takes on board Hip-Hop influences and production techniques. With so much varied experience maybe he can show an innocent, new night like Naïve a thing or two.
Support for the Ed Banger duo will come from a few of Glasgow’s familiar faces. The Subcity/Vitamins pairing of Shaun fae Solar and Sam Vitamins will be going back to back, spinning their way from classic nineties hip hop through to the freshest grime and dub. The almost demolition ready Art School will seem practically luxurious to these boys who are more than comfortable going for it in warehouses, forest clearings or entirely gutted tenement blocks. Before they go at it, Naïve resident Peace will start things off, with a set that has the potential to go anywhere, from his own dark electro production style to Britney Spears...
