Zip (Perlon)

Zip’s musical journey started about 25 years ago. At the very beggining he worked as a leadsinger in bands Second Voice and Bigod 20. They released quite a few 12“ and albums in about 10 years. In 1995 Zip released his solo CD entitled „Seven“ on the label Hypnotic USA and in 1996 he met with former partner from Bigod 20, Markus Nikolai and London based graphic designer Chris Rehberger and they founded audio-visual project Pile. They got signed up to Epic/Sony and the following year they toured Europe. In 1997, Zip, Markus and Chris decided to leave Epic and they founded their own label Perlon. Zip released his first 12“ with his new project Dimbiman on their new imprint. The year after that Zip met with guys such as Baby Ford, James Dean Brown (together Narcotic Syntax) or Sammy Dee (together Pantytec) and started new collaborations which brought us numerous unforgetable releases. For years Zip kept making music and releasing mainly through Perlon imprint and continued collaborating with his colleagues. He toured with Pantytec project, he moved to Berlin, started monthly “Get Perlonized“ sessions (with Sammy Dee) at Panorama Bar, got residency at Robert Johnson Club, remixed many records... Nowadays you can enjoy Zip’s hypnotic musical marathons at the best clubs all around the world. Last year you could notice the beautiful release „Clean Hands“, together with Baby Ford, on the label Pal SL. Perlon also released incredible „Superlongevity 5“ compilation where you can find latest Dimbiman track.

Baby Ford (Perlon, Trelik, Pal SL)

Peter Ford is one of the most recognized names in current electronic music. He is one of the founders of the UK Acid House scene and he is releasing music under numerous aliases for over 20 years now. His early work was heavily influenced by the late 80’s Acid House, as well as Chicago producers such as Marshall Jefferson or Ron Trent among others and included classics like ‘’Oochy Koochy’’, ‘’Children of the Revolution’’ and ‘’Fetish’’. His works came out on many labels which included Sire, Source or Insumision/Transglobal. Albums such as Ford Trax or Headphoneasy Rider are considered as classic among most techno DJs. His recent work has appeared mostly through his own imprints Ifach or Trelik, but we can find his name also on releases from Perlon, Sender, Autoreply, Rephlex, Logistic just to name few. He is involved in many collaborations and groups which are including names such as Thomas Melchior or Zip.

Margaret Dygas (Perlon, Powershovel Audio, Panorama Bar)

Margaret is a woman with a colourful past. She was born in Poland, lived in sunny California, studied fashion in New York and experienced busy London before settling down in Berlin to work on her music. It was in New York and London where she fell in love with the vibrant electronic music scene and it made her the artist we know now. In 2006 she made her first move into production, which resulted in releasing ‘’Day After’’ (2007) on the label Contexterrior, and got a great response. Soon after in 2008 she released ‘’See You Around’’ on Tobias’s label Non Standard Productions and recently caught eyes of the guys from Perlon, where she released her amazing ‘’Invisible Circles’’(2009). Last year, after a long time waiting, she gave us a fantastic new album “How Do You Do”(2010), which was released on Japanese label Powershovel Audio. For many of us it was album of the year. Her tracks also appeared on compilations from Perlon and Ostgut Ton. Margaret Dygas is a respected artist, regularly sharing a DJ booth with DJs like Zip or Ricardo Villalobos. She holds residence at proclaimed Berghain/ Panorama Bar in Berlin and is busy traveling the world to share amazing music with all of us.
