Christmas is here and Freestyle will be celebrating in style with special guest Chris Read, formerly of BBC 1Xtra and long-running Birmingham institution, Substance, joining Funkbox's Roy Roastbeef and Freestyle resident Sam Redmore on the Bull's Head decks.

In its twelve year history, Substance played host to such musical luminaries as DJ Premier, KRS One, Gwen McCrae, The Pharcyde, De La Soul, Grandmaster Flash and many, many more. Chris Read spent two years as a mix show DJ on 1Xtra, and has held residencies at venues including Ministry Of Sound, Cargo, Softly (Barcelona) and Headshell (Amsterdam). A collector of hip hop, funk, soul, boogie, jazz and related beats, Chris has built a reputation on his broad musical knowledge, and having the ability to throw the unexpected into the mix. Listing Portishead's Andy Smith, DJ Yoda, Plus One (Scratch Perverts) and The Herbaliser's Ollie Teeba as fans, Chris's mixtapes are the work of musical perfection, and have to be heard to be truly appreciated.

Completing the line-up on the night will be Freestyle resident Sam Redmore along with Funkbox's Roy Roastbeef. No stranger to the Bull's Head decks, Roy has made numerous appearances for the night and never fails to get the place shakin'. Lost Boys DJs take over the downstairs bar to get your toes tapping whilst you enjoy your pre-dancefloor drinks.
