They are coming.
In preparation for their 2011 ARR1VA1, S.O.M. has teamed up to deliver a grand welcoming featuring 12 hours of dirty bass fired through an Eastern Acoustics 3-way sound system. The venue, a raw abandoned space craft hidden within the depths of industrial East Williamsburg, will be home to several DJ's with their own distinct sound, from Nu Disco to filthy Tech House. This intimate space craft, outfitted with an enclosed outdoor area, serves as a haven to freaks, beats and beings from a world far beyond our concrete jungle.
As we take off in the new year, with neon lights flashing and distorted faces upturned, we might ask ourselves....are they arriving, or are they already here?
Amourette, a Brooklyn femme fatale, draws her musical influence from indie, electronica, techno, house, soul and funk. Since 2007, Amourette has been DJing house parties, rooftops, weddings, bars and lofts. Most recently she can be seen and heard around Williamsburg and Greenpoint; at such bars as Veronica People’s Club, Coco66 and Beco. On the eve of year 2011 she'll get you grooving to variations of house and minimal.
Madame Funk will toy with your distant and not so distant memories, reinvigorating the sounds of funk, disco and house the way baby jesus intended. Synth, symbols and bass make up the layers of her favorite tracks handpicked from her top list for this special night of close encounters. Her one goal: to get your fucking ass on the dance floor. Is that a robot farting or is this track an electronic orgasm?
OxcraftOxcraft's (Juan Ramos) young curiosity for all things sexy, dark, and funky has made for a unique style which blends swooning house tracks and jacked techno. Perfectly comfortable playing opening daytime sets to peak time hours this fresh talent is always happy to please a crowd.
o1o1 [pronounced "oh one oh one"] has been thinking in fractal terms of late; tiny self-replicating patterns have been swirling about his brain deep into the night... this borderline obsession may be driving him to the brink, but a listen to o1o1's recent dj / production mutations reveal an emergent talent teetering on the precipice between discovery and disaster. That's an exciting place to be for the young Columbus, Ohio producer whose path to this moment began with youthful violin, guitar, and percussion playing. Hitting the Midwest's EDM scene in 2005, his interest in DJing led him to minimal, electro, house, techno, and jungle, eventually coalescing in a 3 year residency at Cincinnati Milk Bar, a 3-story venue he managed. Then in 2008, a chance encounter during a Greyhound bus ride around the US, landed him in Brooklyn, where he joined the staff at halcyon the shop. Immersed in the vibrant creative community surrounding the record store, o1o1 began to absorb a multitude of musical influences, catapulting him along a precise path to inner clarity.
Maroje Tabakovic got his musical start, playing guitar in a metal band called 'Dandruff'. He got interested in house and techno music after attending few underground party's during his teen years of growing up in Bosnia and Croatia. An avid vinyl collector, Maroje blends minimal tech grooves, deep minimal-esq house and micro-house snippets to create building atmospheric sets that recently lead more in to an experimental world of tech influenced dub-step/raw techno sound. Having held a few residencies at various venues, Maroje stepped away from the public DJ scene for some time and focused more on producing and only playing more intimate gatherings amongst friends and private parties in Brooklyn, NY. A self-proclaimed "gear whore", his time in the studio eventually lead to him releasing several underground productions over the years under various monikers as: “Cowboy Bubbler” and “Mo:” with several more due out soon.
Alex Simon's passion for DJing is rooted in the old backroom at Arc, which he would frequent weekly before it's demise in 2004. Ever since, Alex has been on a quest to deliver the most imaginative blends of deep, dubby, and minimalist structures. Alex goes out of his way to provide the sweetest, most exotic blend of hypnotic tea that is most enjoyable in the late morning hours...
