After a fantastic first edition, Echoes returns for its second installment at Loop bringing the vibe and celebrating the influence of Dub in electronic music.
Dub, developed originally in the late sixties focusing on the rhythmic parts of a Reggae recording, grew to be a genre on its own right that has literally shaken the world ever since. It was a powerful experiment that has pushed the use of the mixing desk as an instrument and gave greater control to the sound engineer as a producer. It set the blueprint for much of the dance music that has followed.
For this edition, your residents Matic and Mark Baumann will be joined by two very special selectors who also co-run two of the best local electronic music labels. Expect a mix of dope tracks and unreleased promos during the night:
Daniel Filipovic – One of the minds running Pinksilver Music, Daniel is constantly testing new tracks wherever he plays; From selected underground parties to big festivals like Kiss My Grass, or as host of the Pinksilver Music edition of ‘Drowned In Sound’ on dance music radio station Kiss FM.
Daniel is a master at creating subtle atmospheres where boundaries between electronica, house & techno become blurred. His DJ sets are a mix of all things deep & pulsating based around the whole “less is more” ethos. "My music reflects my personality, and that’s what music should be about - inspired, raw, abstract & open for individual interpretation".
Lorenzo – In terms of influential sounds; Depth, Momentum, and Sub Bass are the keys and he is continually refining his skills to create these elements in his own productions.
As a DJ, although he is open to the advancement of technology within music he can’t ditch the vinyl habit. So if you happen to catch him at a gig, he will be one of the few people left who will play a set entirely of vinyl.
