Mark E celebrates the launch of his debut album on Spectral Sound alongside Cottam and the Warm Residents!!
Since his first release back in 2005 Mark E has established himself as one of the most popular and distinctive DJs and producers to come out of the UK in many years. His edits of the likes of Janet Jackson and Womack & Womack quickly earned him plaudits from the likes of Gilles Peterson, but his body of work spans far wider than any so-called 'edit scene', with original material on labels such as Running Back, Sonar Kollektiv and Endless Flight placing him firmly in the tradition of the timeless electronic productions he has been obsessed with since a teenager, drawing on all manner of genres and sounds to create a style that is instantly his own. In 2009 he founded his own label MERC as an outlet for his own productions, and in May 2011 his debut artist LP will be released on Spectral Sound.
Despite becoming known to most people only in the last couple of years Paul Cottam has been buying records since the late 80s and the early days of the UK house scene and DJing since the mid 1990s - starting out with house before a harder techno edge took over. So it was relatively recently that he decided to try his hand and production, and his anonymous coloured releases became the talk of the town in 2009, a year which ended with all three being charted in Phonica’s end of year chart. 2010 was another stellar year which saw Paul entertain crowds around the world with his wide ranging and expertly crafted DJ sets, including two stunning performances at Mulletover and our own Warm 11th birthday. A fourth self-titled EP dropped just a couple of months ago and was an instant sell-out.
Joining Mark E & Cottam will be the Warm residents Ali Tillett & Rob Summerhayes.
