CHEZ DAMIER
KMS, The Music Institute, Prescription: The Chicago legend has been through it all, but if his recent activity is any indication, he's not done yet.
Along with a couple of friends, Chez Damier opened The Music Institute in Detroit in the late '80s. Every nascent music scene needs an outlet. And The Music Institute proved just as important for the development of techno in the city as The Warehouse and The Music Box had been for house music in Chicago a few years earlier.
Damier, AKA Anthony Pearson, could have stopped there, assured of a place in dance music history—albeit just a footnote. But, instead—and after a few years managing the KMS studio and label for Kevin Saunderson—he returned to his hometown of Chicago and, alongside Ron Trent, created a musical legacy deserving of an entire chapter. Between 1993 and 1995, the first 15 releases on the pair's Prescription label—widely regarded as one of the finest house imprints ever—crafted the blueprint for what would become known as deep house. And 15 years later the tracks they created together as Chez N Trent—most notably "Morning Factory," "Sometimes I Feel Like," "The Choice" and "Be My"—remain unparalleled examples of the genre.

COTTAM
If you regularly purchase vinyl, it's likely Cottam is a name you've come across in the past 12 months. His untitled, unmarketed and unpromoted slabs of black plastic were among the most highly rated and fastest selling vinyl-only releases of last year. With his unique take on raw slow-motion house, the Cottam sound has pricked the ears of The Revenge, Gerd Janson, Mr Scruff and R&B mavens, Soul Clap. London's Phonica Records even went so far as to rank all three releases in their top 50 singles of 2009.

SEELIE
Manchester based Seelie AKA Liam Rielly, displays a dance floor telepathy and inner groove way beyond his 23 years. Influenced by his father’s Motown and Northern Soul collection, he started his DJing quest at the tender age of just 15. Liam became a resident not long after for the infamous FNR party, learning his craft paying alongside artists such as Jamie Jones, Argy and Mr C. Playing all across the UK, his ability to of working a crowd to a frenzy has not gone unnoticed. The One Records new boy has a musical style much developed through a retrospective outlook. From funk and rare groove to early US house, Seelie's influences are ever present in his productions. Seelie's dedut track Soulocation out on One Records, has been getting full support from some of the leading players in house. Check out Seelie on soundcloud:
