Retox Presents: TyDi a man who needs little introduction but we shall give him one anyway.
As a 13 year-old drummer, rhythm was his driving force and punk his favourite style. By 15, he had traded in his drum kit for a set of Technics 1200s, and suddenly, the beat became his own. So with music his driving force and turntables at the ready, tyDi entered Brisbane DJ Wars at just 16, and won. Within months the bookings were rolling in, and Brisbane’s famed Family nightclub took him in as one of their residents.
But while his reputation grew, tyDi’s love of music and desire to be more than just a DJ saw him take a more traditional path. Fresh out of high school, tyDi was invited to study at the renowned Queensland Conservatorium of Music, where he enrolled in the study of Music Technology.
It was a decision that paid off. Just two years out of high school, tyDi entered his first Sony inthemix Top 50 DJ Poll, and rocketed to the #12 spot. One year later, he took out the #4 position. And in 2008, with tracks signed to labels across the world, and praise for his work flooding in from contemporaries far and wide, he was crowned Australia’s #1.
An amazing achievement for someone so young, but this accolade was far from the end of the story. Late in 2008, tyDi hit the studio to produce his debut release. Moving away from his traditional roots, he sought to include real strings, keys and drums in his productions. He insisted on voices that were melodic, emotive and had the power to tell a story.
In pursing this new style, tyDi also chose to team up with ARIA nominated producer Sameer Sengupta, whose work includes credits for artists such as Paul Mac, Sneaky Sound System and The Potbelleez.
In 2009, tyDi is already off to an impressive start. On the back of a stellar performance at Melbourne’s Sensation NYE party, the young maverick has secured Main Stage billing at Trance Energy in Holland and across Australia. And with his debut album set for worldwide release this Easter; Australia’s #1 DJ is a man on the rise.
The last 12 months has been a mammoth year for the man we know as tyDi. As a DJ, the 22 year-old was voted #1 in Australia for the second year running (Sony ITM DJ Poll), and spent the year selling out venues on multiple national tours. Internationally he played main stage to 20,000 at the world famous Trance Energy event in Holland and toured right across Asia. To top it all off - he also debuted at #52 in the almighty DJ Mag Top 100 poll!
As a producer, his work can be found on labels across the globe, including world #1 DJ Armin van Buuren's own label, Armada. His debut artist album 'Look Closer' was a huge success, and with a grounding in classical theory - and a view to the contemporary, tyDi is considered one of the new breed of elite global artists!

These two guys need no introduction having played plenty of Retox events. We know them as Elliot Bolton and Stewart Cook and you know them as Hemisphere DJ's. Hemisphere DJ's is a collaboration of Elliott Bolton aka DJ Anthony Bolton from the UK and Stewart Cook aka Diputs from Australia. They met in June 2010 playing on the same night for Plastic Fondu at Ministry of Sound and became firm friends straight away.
In July 2010, Hemisphere DJs was born, bringing their Progressive, House and Trance to club nights around the UK playing at venues such as The Gallery at Ministry of Sound, The infamous Electronic Sessions Boat Party, Retox with Above & Beyond at the O2 Brixton Academy in London, Brixton Jamm, London, Frenchs, Eastbourne to name a few. 2010 was an amazing year for this duo after forming mid way through the year and it only got better seeing the year end of the year out in style playing The Gallery Christmas Party at Ministry of Sound for Retox and the Electronic Sessions NYE Boat Party on the Thames with Jon O'Bir. Hemisphere DJ's are stamping there mark in the UK dance music scene with force. With Hemisphere there is no horizon!
Also on the line up we have Shane Davies who is no stranger to a Retox line up! Shane Davies is a young, talented, up and coming DJ from the south east of England. His passion for electronic music came from the dance floors of big London haunts such as Turnmills and Ministry of Sound where he was captivated by how the big jocks and residents alike would conduct the music to send a crowd wild. It was this which inspired Shane to first get a pair of decks.
It wasn't long till Shane developed his own driving, uplifting, vocal and melodic sound which can be seen put across in his sets with such power behind the decks. Not only does Shane perform with a high degree of energy and enthusiasm which he feeds from the crowd but his technical ability which allows him to manipulate the music by sampling, looping and effecting tracks to remix them live in front of your ears, which makes his sound unique. It's this wizardry behind the decks that has led Shane to securing big gigs such as the legendary boat parties with Electronic Sessions, The Gallery at Ministry of Sound, Raw Filth resident (Reading) and his very own brand new show 'On The Brink' on one of the worlds leading internet dance stations slinky.fm.
Also on the line up will be Retox debut's Justin Pozolli who will be bringing his take on Trance & Progressive and House Duo Resistance made up of Hayden Miller and Rowan Johnson and last not but least Neil Bowles who will be on warm up duties with his deep and progressive house!
